Dipping Passenger Door Mirror

Took the Roc in for the passenger door mirror to be checked .. Intermittently, only when using the wifes' key, the mirror would go to the dipped position when reversing but fail to return to its normal position when driving forwards.
Apparently there is a Software fix available which should solve the problem.

I have the same issue on my ROC. Dealer has reviewed, and it's booked in for a complete new mirror assembly to be fitted. I did mention when mine went in about the software fix, but don't think they applied it before ordering parts (VW seem very "confused" across dealerships as to what software updates are available and when to apply them).

Even if they do apply this software update and replace the mirror assembly I'm not sure the issue will be resolved; I recall this coming up before with another forum member who went thru what VW are doing to mine with no effect - although that was a few months back.

Given the lock down across the U.K. now, I'm assuming my repair will be deferred until restrictions are lifted (which I'm fine with).

Be interested to hear though when yours does go in @Swsgm30 as to whether the update does fix the issue.

Does it not go back to normal position all te time? In my case it was sometimes and indeed a software update fixed the problem a couple of months ago.

That's the problem @Sanchez999.
I think before the dealer pulls my door mirror off, I'll get them to double check the software version, as it sounds like this is a fix and if they don't need to replace my mirror then that will be a win-win all round

i dont think mine has returned to normal position after parking automatically either, but i just turn the mirror switch back to "0" and it goes back to normal...

If it auto-dips, then it should return by itself to the normal position, either by taking the key out of the ignition, or by driving forwards at over 3 mph. That's how its supposed to work all the time. Mine does work like that 98%-99% of the time

might be a little bit faster than 3mph since in my case its 15 km/h

My dipping door mirror got stuck in the reverse position about 1 in 20 times.

It got to the stage where decided not to bother with it, I adjusted it so that it doesn't show quite as much sky as it used to, and I can see the rear quarter and tyre if I need to.

Having a reversing camera means I don't use it that much in any case :D

Be a while now before mine gets looked at, as understandably the dealer and service dept went into lock down yesterday.

Finally got mine into the dealers last week and they applied the software update (the service manager advised that VW now acknowledge that the intermittent mirror return is an issue) - and so far so good, whereas it had got worse (only returning 75% of the time beforehand), so far it's been returning every time, so fingers crossed its all sorted.

So if you have this issue, then would suggest having a word with your dealer about getting the software update for it applied
