Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Hi, It has been nearly a year since I rejected my T-Roc and it comes as no surprise that the issue has not been resolved. Why, I believe it to Be a fundamental design flaw in the engine that software will not fix. The 1.5 TSi uses a miller cycle motor, the engine was designed to provide the economy ...

Jabbafumi ... your latest posts arrived while I was typing mine ... sorry for repeating what you posted. :D
No worries, we are on the same page though.

Regarding your question about the Golf, always liked the Golf and after my frustrations with the T-Roc I never want to near one again.

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

I will also add. For obvious reasons the Miller Cycle engine was designed to work with a supercharger and not a turbo.

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Jabbafumi The problem is in the DSG as well ! Sounds really logical, I wonder why VW have not done it over 11 months and just keep saying Software fix software fix, adjust your driving method. Give up I'm going Honda. I guess it is a major mechanical fix. Turbos work on the exhaust gases. To fix it...

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Hi,

I gave up and went back to a golf. I came from 2 consecutive GTI’s. My missus said I should grow up and get a T-Roc, shouldn’t have listened to her. I’ve gone back to what I know, 2.0 TSi in a Golf R, no issues now.

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Hi, I’ve posted this before, but will post again and in my mind, this is the most likely problem. The 1.5 TSi uses a miller cycle motor, the engine was designed to provide the economy and torque of a Diesel engine from a petrol engine. Simply put, on the combustion stroke, the inlet valve is opened ...

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

I don’t believe the problem can be solved by a software update. I’m of the opinion that it is mechanical and the miller cycle engine. If this is the case then VAG have a monumental problem.

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Because I bought a new car(Golf) from them, they treated it as a trade in. They “refunded” my money, which I used to buy the golf.

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Hi all, Really sad to see that the problem is still around. I bought my 1.5 TSI manual back in July last year and the kangarooing problem was evident from day 1. 3 weeks later I rejected the car. I went back to a 2.0l Golf. However, even before I took delivery of my new golf, the salesman told me th...

Re: 1.5 EVO - 1st gear kangaroo

Hi all, Sorry to read that you are all still having the same issues. I bought my T-Roc back June last year and returned it in July. I’m pretty certain that VW can’t easily fix this. During my arguments with VW I did some extensive investigation around the engine itself. This engine was designed afte...
