I'm thinking of buying a car cover to protect the paintwork on my car from persistent bird pooping. Can anyone recommend one, other than those at Halfords?

I’d love a fitted one for the T-Roc but haven’t actually looked yet. Be interesting to see what others have.

Audi make a car cover for the Q2 which fits the T-ROC, Audi part number 81A061205.
It is stated that it is for indoor use to prevent dust and soiling but suitable outdoors to protect from bird droppings if you wash it regularly and limit its exposure to much harsh elements.

Thanks, looks good, but then it should for 554€
How do you know it will also fit a T-Roc, have you got one?

The T-Roc and Q2 are the same car except for interior & exterior tweaks 👌

I think that price is expensive no matter how good it is 🙈🤷‍♂️

I'd definitely be interested! I'm sick of being an avian strafing target! That price seems ludicrous. I like the all weather sock type thing they give you with Aston Martins though. They do an all weather one. I shudder to think what they cost.

A car detailing company, Ultimate Finish, have recommended this... Specialised Covers Official UK Supplier | Car Covers

However, I'm now having slight second thoughts about sticking a cover on the car. Where we live, it can get quite windy. So I'm wondering if the wind get's under the cover and picks up some dust from the driveway. Then a flapping cover plus dust could do some serious scratching of the paintwork.... or am I being paranoid??

No, you are not being paranoid.

Most of my research suggests that frequently removing and replacing a cover can scratch the paintwork and isn't recommended. Similarly using a car cover on a car that is dirty can also cause damage to paintwork.

Aye, and for that price I’d expect it to walk over and cover the car on its own.

Not personally, I have seen one fitted which through me off at first look. The owner had one on her T-Roc and her partner with a Golf R the A3 cover. I didn't ask why.

Under 230 Euro on sale down here, I guess not many are buying them.
I have the best car cover, a garage. Doesn't work too well away from home but each vehicle will undergo a visual inspection on return and there is always a bucket of carwash handy for quick fallout removal.

In another life I had a Land Rover Discovery which was parked up outside in the carpark all week. I had an old parachute which I used to cover it. Use to take about 15-20 minutes to put it on, if there was no wind. Worked alright keeping the vehicle clean and I was surprised how well it kept the dust out.
It looked like a radar dome on windy days.
