Considering purchasing a T-Roc

Inconsistency with some of the communications features and other tech is the main issue.

I believe that most owners have no or very few problems and love their cars, but there are some less fortunate who seem to have a list of problems and have struggled to get these fixed with multiple visits to dealer workshops. Perhaps they are using features which others are not.

... the T-Roc I sat in felt more Golf 7.5 era than Golf 8 ...
That sounds more like a pre face lift T-Roc. I think the face lift (current) model was introduced ~late 2021 to 2022. In the cabin, the main difference you would notice is the positioning and mount for the infotainment screen on the facelift being one of those 'floating' styles whereas the earlier cars the screen was full integrated into the dash, just like on the Golf 7.5 I think, but certainly on the Golf 7 which I had.

... I can connect Android Auto from my mobile via a cable so I get Google Maps on the screen but I cannot connect wirelessly Google Maps. I have highlighted this fault to VW and they are pussy footing around on it but I shall persist to get it sorted.
Don't hold your breath ... they probably won't get it sorted until the replacement model arrives next year and the current model will probably never be sorted.

Also likely dependent on whether or not your dealership is any good. In my experience, Arnold Clark are to be avoided at all cost. I am yet to have a single positive experience at one.
I agree that there can be and is a lot of variation across dealerships, and not confined servicing. When my car is in for servicing, my dealer provides a courtesy car or home collection & return free of charge (excl. petrol).

But when it comes to dealing with faults, dealers to often rely solely on the car's own fault logs and diagnostics. 'Computer says no fault found' more often than not means that the fault logging and diagnostics are inadequate, which is why owners have to go to great lengths recording videos and taking technicians on test drives just trying to prove there is a problem. If they can't reproduce the problem consistently, dealers seem to give up and resort to re-installing the car's software and running another diagnostic test. If the latter once again shows no fault found, then it's 'on your way sir' and good luck.

You really should have checked the standard equipment list for each of the trim levels before purchase and then either specified which additional options you wanted for a factory order or looked for a dealer stock car with your most important options. If you want a car with all that kit fitted as standard, then perhaps you chose the wrong brand/model.

Surely you could use any third party wireless charger in your T-Roc or am I missing something ? Are there none which plug in to a USB port and have a pass-through USB socket ?
