Engine cutting out

Hi

I bought this vehicle a TROC 1.5TSI match manual in May 2025 and have only done approx 1700 miles.

I have been experiencing issues with the engine cutting out occasionally, i thought it was me but it has started to happen more frequently.

As an example i was approaching a junction yesterday where i wanted to turn right off a main road onto a side road, there was no oncoming traffic at the time so i changed down the gears and as i went from third to second and started to turn the engine cut out and rev counter went to zero , still in gear i think the cars momentum restarted the engine.

This has now happened several times, i have had the same issue with the stop start system off and on .

So far the engine has always restarted by pressing the clutch but i still don't think it is safe especially when turning right and when coming up to roundabouts.

I rang the dealer and they suggested that i should call the VW breakdown number as they couldn't look at it until December!

I did this and they sent out a technician quite promptly, he checked for loose wires and also checked for any fault codes but couldn't find any, we went for a test drive but the fault didn't recur. He asked me to keep a log of when it happens.

I have checked online and there were similar issues in 2023 but i haven't seen anything recent, has anyone else had the same experience recently?

Thanks

As you rightly said, there are previous posts of a very similar fault if not the same.
Volkswagon found no faults and couldn't replicate it, I don't believe anyone solved it 🤔

A member reckoned using E5 petrol helped him.

The way you said it restarted sounds more like start/stop restarted it.

Mines a 2018 but I find it can stall/cut out easily when pulling out of junctions etc in second gear when the car is still in very slow momentum, I'd need to go into first really or have more momentum initially.

Might be the way you drive the T-roc, not your actual driving but adjustments to suit the T-roc 🤔

Yes, twas me, plenty of posts regards this on here, just stop using that nasty E10 fuel and only use E5 instead, E10 petrol isn’t good for the engine long term and doesn’t save you any more money either as you get higher mpg with E5.
It’s just cheaper at point of sale, that’s all.
E10 doesn’t really help save the planet either when you take all the extra production costs into account, these as partially subsidised by increasing the cost of E5, it’s all political BS, look it up.
