This has to do do with "the strange whistle-like noise" post that I wrote a couple of days before. In reply to my post, Rocadoodledo, whose car has the same problem, came with a possible solution, suggested on another forum by another member, though it seems the whistle-like noise was similar : "Right, so looking under the bonnet, just behind the engine coolant header tank, there is a space/partition etc where there are two small pipes coming up out of, they are connected to hard plastic connectors, one is a smooth walled rubber pipe and the other, from factory, is a hard ribbed plastic pipe. If you follow this hard ribbed plastic pipe, you will see that it ends up getting connected to a "blob" that is clipped into the driver's side of the engine area. That pipe is only 9 inches > 12 inches long, it is that second pipe that gets replaced with a smooth wall rubber pipe with the quoted part number printed on to it."

I have no idea if the T-Roc 1.0 TSI engine is the same as a 1.2 TSI Polo's ( probably not), though, who knows, maybe there's a hard ribbed plastic pipe somewhere here as well that is causing the noise I'm complaining about. So, if anyone can identify it ( I couldn't, but I'm totally "illiterate" when it comes to engines), please draw a circle around it. Thanks so much!

I would think the ribbed pipe is probably just a protective sleeve over a smooth rubber pipe inside &#x1f937-2642;

Hi Florin.
Here are a couple of photos of the EVAP components of my engine taken from the back of the engine bay looking forward. I looks to me as if there are two parts to the hard ribbed plastic pipe, one from the fuel tank via the bulkhead to the EVAP unit, and another section from the EVAP to the engine. I'm wondering if the Polo owner actually had the whole EVAP setup replaced rather than just a single pipe, without knowing it. It would make more sense if the noise was coming from the actual valve rather than a single pipe. Perhaps the part number he gave was for the whole setup. Unfortunately my engine only makes the noise occasionally, and only on the move, so I can't stick my ear on the unit to check.
I'm not sure if the smooth pipe seen next to the ribbed pipe has anything to do with the EVAP system.

Maybe the whistling is coming from the Infotainment system while it waits for the new map data to be transferred from usb :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Glad, Tricky, that your T-Cross with exactly the same EVAP system doesn't have the intermittent " whistle - peeeeping " noise as the T-Rocs owned by Florin and myself. However, exactly the same noise under the same conditions was traced to the EVAP purge system in a polo owners car and cured by replacement. Whether, more recently, the " fault " is confined to T-Rocs remains to be seen. It would seem that manufacturing quality control of the EVAP system parts could be at fault here, or simply wear and tear on a substandard part. As our two T-Rocs are both MY20 it may be that our purge valves are both from a bad batch. Recent VW cars seem to be hit and miss where quality is concerned, look at the mooing brakes and kangarooing issues, some identical cars did and others didn't. I'm going to monitor the peeeeping noise, which is infrequent and intermittent at the moment and see what happens. If it gets worse it'll be a visit to the workshop, if not then I can probably wait until the next scheduled service. I still love the T-Roc though.

Hello, Rocadooledo and everybody else! I'm glad to report that my whistling/peeping noise has been solved! It was indeed an issue with the EVAP system which was replaced by the dealer with no costs on my part as the car is still under warranty. This is how it looks now. Notice that the ribbed cord is now longer and contains a ribless (unribbed) part as well. Thanks Rocadooledo for having identified the (possible at that time) problem as this is exactly what I told the dealer when I brought the car to being investigated.

Not sure if I'm looking at the correct pipe and section, but it looks like some sort of (clear ?) sleeve has been fitted. See the are of your last pic which I've surrounded with a yellow rectangle.
