Hi, I have a 2019 1.5l 110kw TSIM6F petrol TROC, and want to add a top up of oil.


I rang VW and they said I need 0W20 grade oil.

when I put the reg plate into Halfords, Halfords tells me that oil is not correct for my car.

the handbook says I should use either;
VW 50800 or VW 50400 if I have a particulate filter,
Or VW 50800 or VW 50800 without particulate filter but with flexible service,
Or VW 50200 without particulate filter with fixed service

The handbook also says that there should be a sticker in the engine bay lock carrier if VW 50200, 50400, 50501, or 50700 ok has been used. I can’t find a sticker.

So therefore I assume I should use VW 50800 / 0W20.

am I right?

do I have to stick with Vw’s Castrol recommendation? Or can I add any/cheapest 0W20?

Trust the dealer before Halfords.
I use this a lot to check oils. Especially as Fuchs produce engine oil for VW factory fill and VW Quantum oil.

No,you can put other brands as long as they respect the standards for VW engines in the case 0W20 at least VW 508 00, the Fuchs brand is a good brand, but you have others like Liqui Moly, Motul, Petronas, and Castrol is also a good brand and that has a commercial agreement with VW in most of the countries of the world, my choice is Liqui Moly
