Hands free connection

@PopaG -

I don't use my phone much in the car, hands free or otherwise, so I don't really know what connectivity options are required/used.

However, here are 2 suggestions to try.

1. Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and unpair any connections which relate to your car. Then create a new pairing.

2. For a Samsung (Android) phone, open the main settings, select 'About phone', select 'Status information', select 'Wi-Fi MAC address'. This should display a list of your saved (remembered) network connections. Look for any related to your car and tap on it to open, then tap on the 'Advanced' drop-down. The MAC address type will be listed as either 'Randomised MAC' or 'Phone MAC'. If necessary, change it to 'Phone MAC'. This is a security feature added to some newer phones and versions of Android, but I believe 'Randomised MAC' is not supported on the VW Mib2/3.

I don't know if either of the above has any bearing on your problem but it may be worth giving them a try.

Neither phone has any information in the WiFi MAC address ...

The MAC address instructions are slightly different for Android 12 ... see red item below.
  1. Open Settings
  2. Scroll to the end and tap 'About phone'
  3. Tap 'Status information' then tap 'Wi-Fi MAC address' to display the list of remembered Wi-Fi networks
  4. Scroll through the list and tap any connection related to your car
  5. Tap the ' v View more' drop-down
  6. The MAC address type for that connection will be shown as either 'Randomised MAC' or 'Phone MAC'. Change it to 'Phone MAC' and see if that fixes your problem
  7. Tap back (<) and repeat steps 4-6 for any other connections related to your car.
