I totally agree.

You probably have the current Mib3 Infotainment System which is significantly different from the Mib2 in my car (and previous Golf Mk7). I'm not sure if any of the differences are an improvement as there seems a lot of problems being reported. In summary, it is probably a backward step and will no doubt take VW several years to sort it all out.

As you will probably discover in many separate topics on the forum, VW in-car software, and in-house services, are fulll of bugs, unreliable, badly structured, poorly documented, overly complicated, and have virtually no customer support worth wasting your time on to report issues or ask for help.

As you say, the old cars didn't have the gizmos and modern trend for doing everything in software, but they were far more reliable and had fewer problems.

Persistence
Having deleted an entry before I was determined to find the magic sequence again so here it goes ...
Start the navigation system
Press "My Destinations"
Select the destination that you wish to delete (system calculates route)
Press "Settings"
Press "Manage Memory"
Press "Delete User Data"
Press "Flagged Destination" (tick box)
Press "Delete" (top of screen)
Press "Delete" (confirms delete)
Press "the Return Arrow" (back)
Press "the Return Arrow" (back) AGAIN
Press "My Destination"
Press "Destination"
Press the ">" at the side of the destination that you wish to delete
Now the "Edit" option appears
Press "Edit"
Press "Delete"
Press "Delete" AGAIN
Et voila !

Now maybe somebody can refine/shorten this tortuous sequence
but for the moment it's the only way that I have been able to get to the magic "Edit" option

It's pretty bad that this is not in the manual
especially as it's very likely that someone will want to do it
and the system is certainly not intuitive.

The manual good be hugely improved / shortened / made clearer
by stating all the safety warnings once
and not repeating them in every procedure on every page.

By the way don't read this while you are driving ....

Hi ,
not sure if this is of any help but to delete a destination bring up your list list place finger on the one you want to delete and slide to the left this will bring up a red box with a dustbin icon tap to delete.
This only works if you have a MIB3 headunit.

Cheers

My T-ROC R Line, 71 Plate, does not have the Nav menus you describe and I cannot find any way of deleting a destination. I would be very grateful for any advice.

You have the latest head unit, referred to as MIB3 Severs, things are different to pre 2020 head units.

Thank you. Deletion works as you have advised. I could not find a reference to that in the manual for the car!
