Hi all, I have a T-Roc SEL with the sat-nav built in, does any body know if there is a speed camara warning setting that can be set,
As I can't seem to find one, I have gone though most of the settings without much Luck so far,
even my old Garmin unit had a warning bleeper go of when nearing a Camara !.

I believe that in some countries it is illegal to have a device in your car that gives warnings of speed cameras, so therefore not available as you might take your car to one of those countries on holiday and you would essentially be breaking the law

I have the GPS app Here we go on my phone and it warns me if I am speeding and I can adjust how much over the speed limit I can go before it begins. And it warns me about speed cams. It is a free app so go and get it if you like 😎

The legal side of this regarding different countries may be argued but surely that should not be the resposibility of VW. I also have a Merc with a nav system that incorporates the FIXED camera positions and that comes with a disclaimer regarding its use. The onus is placed on the driver to adhere, or not, to local laws as it can be "switched off". Where I live it is accepted for fixed locations to be warned and we are informed by a sign as big as a motorway hoarding that one is imminent so why should VW become a nanny organisation by restricting this "aid" when most reputable sat systems afford the facility.
Surely it for individuals to take resposibility for their actions or shall we act as snowflakes and insist on a escort vehicle with a red flag whilst in a 30 limit.
VW, wake up and give your clients what they want in this respect. Rant over!

I just don't bother speeding. It's against the law, after all.

When I asked the same question of my dealer, the answer was that WV thinking is that I shouldn't speed , so there is no need for the facility to be on the sat Nav!
When I pointed out that the decision to speed was for me to make he just shrugged and said that VW had made its own decision for me!

It is a bit frustrating, I've got it on my Renault 'Tom Tom' so am now finding it frustrating .. I'm not particularly a 'Speeder' but it does give peace-of-mind when driving in a strange location   ;)

It can also if you had the uk speed camera database POI be added to you're personal POI,s in the root directory of the map SD card and then you can assign an alert when close by, there's a few doing it on the French forums and a guy who supplies the data base.
But of course I couldn't condone such "skull duggery"😁

I am sure that in France it is illegal to have a device that provides speed camera alerts regardless whether it is switched on. So no point in having it determined by the manufacturer.

TomTom's service in France is certified to be 100% legal. Instead of warning for exact locations of cameras, TomTom warns for Danger Zones around any potential danger, including cameras.
This applies to all sat navs in France and works very well.

I live in southern France and can confirm that Sat Nav system that show the precise location of speed cameras are illegal.

It's also worth noting that police can confiscate your car if they catch you in excess of the speed limit by 40 KPH or more.
