Hi everyone,
Went through this process so I thought I'd share in case anyone finds this useful.
I have 2019 T-Roc (pre-facelift) and did a MFSW Retrofit with the help of OBD11 Pro & lots of research.
Listing out the steps below:
1. Find a MFSW steering wheel buttons if choice (touch / non-touch)
I got myself one from Golf 8 R with big paddles and sexy design.
(Image attached)
2. Get OBD Eleven Pro / VCDS / ODIS (coding tool of choice)
3. Spin the steering wheel with ignition OFF so it locks
4. Turn ON the ignition to release the lock and them turn it off again
5. Disconnect the negative terminal from battery and secure the space so it doesn't accidentally touch the terminal
6. Remove the old steering wheel

7. Install the new steering wheel and connect all the plugs and push the airbag cover in
7a. Replace slip ring if you don't have a slot to plug in MFSW heating plug (if your current MFSW is not heated, highly likely you need to replace slip ring as well)
8. Connect the battery terminal
9. Ignition ON -> Touch buttons should light up, ACC most likely won't be illuminated, that's resolved by coding
10. Coding
10a. Go to Gateway (19) > Adaptation
- Change platform to 'MQB'
- Activate 'Tiptronic switch' if you have DSG paddles
- Activate 'Temperatur sensor' if you have heated SW
- Activate 'SW heating button' if you have heating button on the right switches (attached image as ref)
- Set Version to 'ACC' if you have ACC / to your old SW value otherwise
- Activate 'FoD ACC' (set as installed)
- Optional: Activate 'FoD Travel Assist' if you want the button to light up, it won't do anything on MY2019 version as it didn't come with Travel Assist, instead it came with Driver Assist button (non-R versions have this button if you opt for that)
10b. Go back to Gateway (19) > Long coding > 'Sollverbau_KLR' switch to 'Installed'
11. Clear all DTCs
12. Cycle the ignition (OFF > ON) and start the car
13. Go full lock to the left -> full lock to the right with the SW to clear remaining fault codes
14. Enjoy
