Hi did you get the R button working, i did this retrofit and followed everything on this thread all is working. I only cant get the R button working i seen on other forums i need to change the dataset on 19 did you get the R button to work?

greetings Adel from the Netherlands

Nope, actually I've not tried to make it work at all

From what I read you need to load the R software to have the modes from the R and I don't have anyone nearby who can do a job like that (unless you do a DIY in my country, youre pretty much helpless for someone to know this)

So for now I'm not using the button, though I plan if going out sometime to get someone who has experience with this to do it
Hi thank you for replying, i tried the dataset of an t roc R no result. I will try to find someone who can help, if I succes i will give an update🤲🏻

The R button only works if Race mode is available/ activated in Drive profile menu. These all modes have their own FEC/SWAP codes in gateway. Just flashing the T-roc R drive profile dataset in gateway won't help. Currently VW has activated race mode SWAP for R models only.
This is an T-Roc R it already hase button with modus in center console, so the fec/swap code is already there in 19 gateway. I wanted to add te T-Roc R button on steeringwheel. Greetings Adel

one other question when you press it does it vibrate? do you feel the button react the R button?

Yes it does, it has 2 levels of "press", softer and harder press and it reacts to both but nothing happens after it
One last question, how many wires did your airbag harness have? the one that goes in to buttons module? Beacause i used the old harness for one without R button, maybe thats my fault?

Thanks in advance, ik had retrofitted a steeringwheel with touch buttons. I bought the MFSW buttons with R button later. And then replaced the one without.

I don't remember how many wires there were in the main yellow socket that plugs into slip ring, but you are not supposed to swap over the wires from the old airbag onto new one, just use the new airbag as-is.

There are 3 wires plugged in to the left button set, one of them connects to the other button, second one goes to the touch recognition module (black box in the lower right corner of the MFSW), and the last one is supposed to be for the paddles - IIRC there's one slot for shift paddle on both button sets.

The black connector coming out from the left button set on the side goes to the factory connector, same with heating connector and then I just plugged in the main yellow connector from the new airbag module into the socket and it worked, after that only coding was left and clearing the errors, very straightforward.

Edit: I think it had like 5 wires that go into the black connector on the left button set, either 5 or 6 if I recall correctly

Thanks for the reply, i did not touch any wires that go in yellow socket. I only have 4 wires that go in black connector. I think thats why its not working. The harnes I used was for an normal golf 8 touch buttons. The pin connector is indeed with six, i only had 4 i think its missing one and thats why the button doesnt work. Thanks a lot man!!! u dont have a picture of the black connector from before installation? I need a other wiring harness for the airbag then, if possible can you make a picture just of the black connector? u need to remove the airbag, if its to much off a hassel then no need. I already apreciate youre response and time u gave! i have brown, black, white and then 1 empty pin location then yellow and empty pin location.

Amazing, is this a full R where you added on just a SW?

Also, did that screen with Tire Pressures come by default or did you do a retrofit with coding?
I'd like to add that but not sure if it's possible on non-R that's why I'm asking

Enjoy it!
All is working no fault codes, i took the coding from old steering wheel. And the rest i coded like you said. If u have driving profile the T button should make the car go to sport or race.
