A model of the new T-Roc is being sent to Germany within the next few days with the intention of transforming it into the full R version. R is not expected to be built until 2027, as is usually the case with the R models coming later.

Interestingly, it seems VW are also considering a FWD variant of the new T-Roc with the 2.0TSI. T-Roc GTI? 🤔 or maybe it is not intended for performance and will still be ~200ps. It’s not clear yet.

Interesting little feature on the new T-Roc’s rear wheel arch. It apparently relates to how far out the rims protrude.

They don’t seem to protrude much as far as I can tell but perhaps it depends on the rim variant/size.

Or perhaps it’s more to minimize mud spraying up the side of the car.

It's a dodge to increase the official width of the car at almost zero cost (think how much it would cost to actually widen the floor and body work).

With the 'wider' car they are then allowed to have wider wheels and/or increased track width.

So no practical use at all then and looks stupid 🤣

I'm sure you're probably aware currently there is already a topic about this on current models only the protrusion is a little part that is a fixed to the existing wheel arch.

A part that a very eagle eyed MOT man would need to be, to notice it missing, at least in the UK anyway 🤔

No, I don’t think I’ve seen it. Do you remember who started the thread?

Hi Folks
Just wondering if there is any more news on the release date for the new T-Roc?
Been hanging onto my Golf 7 GT in the meantime and hoping to see an order date this side of 2025.
Using the new Golf configurator (UK) as a possible guide to available options, I see the 360 camera option as well as a decent Hi-Fi upgrade beyond Beats.
Hoping they will re-introduce side assist (aka Blind Spot monitoring) too. Seems only available on the new Tiguan.

I think I saw something about it that the official launch will be in early September 2025.

Yes, September - although still there are things changing all the time with the refresh.

There are new 19” rims coming. Well, sort of. They are York rims but they have a plastic insert to make them seem more like EV rims 🙄 These will likely only be available with the 48V eTSI engines.

Can’t remember if I’ve posted this yet but the newer standard 2.0TSI coming will produce just over 200bhp from factory.

An R model is still undecided which is not good news at all given that I’d have expected that to have been confirmed and being developed this close to the standard model launch.

Apparently you’ll be able to option 20 inch rims on the new T-Roc. I think they’ll look a bit weird. They’re black though so maybe it won’t look quite as ridiculous… it’s just too small for 20 inchers in my opinion.

MK2 T-Roc R now planned. Mild hybrid 2.0TSI with around 330bhp.

edit: typo, 330bhp not 230bhp! Imagine making the next R slower… it’d be like when BMW canned the 140 and suggested the 135 was a good replacement.

Disappointing, considering the current model R is 300hp and there would not be any weight saving with the MKII.
Sorry my bad, was a typo - 330bhp!

T-Roc R first unit to be produced September this year as a test unit. It will be available to purchase late 2026 to early 2027.

This month the new “ENERGIE” variant of T-Roc will be introduced. Should hit the configurators soon with production starting in a week or two. It seems it won’t be available in all markets though. Seems Grenadilla Black will be replacing Deep Black Pearl with the introduction of this variant.

Perhaps another cost-cutting measure by VW but the T-Roc has ditched the heated windscreen washer nozzles (R-line and winter pack). Maybe they feel they are not worth adding anymore.
