The concept designs for the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet, due in 2020, were so good that a production run was approved by the company's board even though it didn't make "rational sense", according to VW sales boss Jürgen Stackmann. He said: "It's a car we all wanted to make. There isn't a huge market for it - that sort of car is only popular in a small number of countries - but we felt passionately we should do it."

The Evoque Convertible rival will be built in the second half of 2020 at the Osnabrück plant where the company is investing €80 million to get the assembly plant ready for the T-Roc Convertible.

Yes please. My wife has a Golf cabriolet at the moment which she can no longer replace like for like (other than a Beetle which is not in the same league). I already have a T-Roc 1.5 S-el which is brilliant. In two years time, we would be able to go down to 1 car so a T-Roc convertible would be such an obvious choice.
