This may sound like a silly question but it looks and feels really compact. Also, there is a bit of spacing that almost makes the car look light. I am having a hard time gauging what it weighs. I once read lighter cars are more dangerous. Not sure if that is true or not.

1.0 TDI 6 speed gear box =1270 Kg according to the brochure, as far as I can tell. If my calculations are correct that = 2799.82 Lbs = 24.99 Cwt about 1.1/4 english ton. Other models are hevier DSD TDI 4 Motion etc. are all quite a bit more.
A 2.0 SEL TDI 4Motion on the same page weighs in at 1505 Kg = 3317.9 Lbs this is = 29.6 Cwt nearly 1.5 english ton

This is light after I have driven a 1.4 Astra Mk 6 turbo SRI for the last 7 years that was 1.9 english ton.
Now watch someone blow my calculations out of the water.

I think your Astra weight looks high, a couple of sites I looked at quote a kerb weight of 1173 kg for a 1.4 Astra, not sure if this is the same as the 1270 kg Unladed weight from the T-Roc brochure

The guys on the Astra forum always said they were built like an aircraft carrier. the newer ones are a lot less heavy.
