There are a few owners swapping out the aircon/heated seats control panel to touch controlled.
It looks the part but personally I'm not a big fan of touch control.

Totally agree. It’s a massive gripe with almost every auto journalist on the new VW cars. I just don’t understand why they’ve done it. It’s way more distracting and will likely lead to more accidents.

Same with the stupid floppy controls on the steering wheel where it’s different buttons but it also is just one giant button... to be honest I’m glad I bought when I did!

I was going to get a new Golf 8 but this put me off.
I could hardly get the controls to work when I was parked .
It was a nightmare when moving.
It’s dangerous imo and a step to far in a car.

They obviously never test these stupid touch controls on British roads. Even my front seat passengers struggle to touch the right icon.

But I guess it is cheaper, and there are some brands that are even worse with everything done via the main (only) screen.

Tesla being a prime example of how *not* to do it. Just opening the glovebox requires touching the screen. Wipers as well!

I had planned to trade in the T-Roc around the 3 or 4 year mark but to be honest, I think I’m just going to keep it if this is where we are headed. Hopefully when it dies in around 10 years, it won’t matter as they’ll all be autonomous by then anyway

Hmm, I don’t really understand why they’d change it so the shift lever illuminates the engaged mode. If you’re moving the lever, your hand will be covering the display so you can’t see it. Illuminated labels down the side make so much more sense because you can see the engaged mode regardless of what you’re doing.
