2 Recall's (brakes and spoiler)

Post by RedRoc » Fri Jan 11, 2019 2:06 pm

I have been notified of 2 recalls today, affecting our Troc.

1. Safety recall for brake software - apparently, quote "an unintentional release of the electronic parking brake may occur", when, quote "ignition on, temperatures <5°C, Auto hold function not activated".

2. Rear spoiler - top and bottom sections may come apart and fall off.

Booked in for doing, but wondered if anyone had same?

Were you notified by your supplying dealer or VW directly?

Had the recall for the electronic brake done for my car a while ago now. No mention of the rear spoiler, but would probably ask for that to be done at service end of May if I get another letter for that...

Got a letter about the brakes, but told by dealer about spoiler when booking in (not classed as a safety recall). I've looked at the spoiler and it's looks/feels well fitted together so will discuss with dealer when it goes in - don't like the idea of things being forced apart to mend (if you get my concern).

Hi all

Just received the letter regarding the spoiler, fyi in the NL, so it may apply to different batches.
Going to visit the dealer this Saturday and take an appointment; according to the letter the inspection can last up to 4 hours (i hope my Dutch skills are poor on this) and that in the meanwhile car is safe to drive at moderate speed (i hope my Dutch skills are good on this).

Rather disappointed, but this is rather common with new models, I read.

Hi SIMMO.
Had brake software done - all seems ok, but we didn't notice any problem before. The dealer also did an 'infortainment' update (some screens were freezing apparently, not ours).
As for spoiler, not yet done because repair parts are not available so will have to wait. Was told it may be a 1 or 2 day job - not looking forward to that. Just hope they can do it without damage to paintwork. I will post when it's done, but may be weeks off by the sound of it.

Have had both done. Brake done two weeks ago and spoiler completed yesterday. Car went to dealer at 0830 and ready for collection at 1600. They removed old adhesive and replaced with new and this had to allowed to cure properly, all on original spoiler. Spoiler still looks perfect with original joining "gap" maintained and middle for diddle all along. Wouldn't even know it had been repaired (hope it has !).
