1.5 Tsi Evo Petrol Engine Production Ceased?

Post by JAMCT » Sat Apr 27, 2019 9:34 pm

I called in to my local VW dealer today for the launch of the T-Cross and whilst there chatted with the sales representative about my T-Roc and some of the problems highlighted on this forum.

ALERT!!! - Whilst discussing such things as the 'Kangaroo' problem and extended delivery periods for, specifically, the 1.5Tsi petrol versions, the salesman said that VW had stopped production of this engine and those still waiting for their cars may be disappointed depending at what stage their car's construction had reached.

I may have misunderstood him but it is worth forum members waiting for their cars to double check and if possible confirm or deny the report.

Thanks for the heads-up JAMCT.

There have been similar stories posted previously in the main Kangaroo thread. On each occasion, I raised it with my dealer sales manager and he said they had not been informed of any such withdrawal of the 1.5 engine.

Maybe things have changed again recently, so it would be interesting to hear from anyone trying to place a factory order for any 1.5 variants now and in the coming weeks. Dealer stock cars wouldn't be affected till stocks run out.

Great. Not only have many of us been sold a dud, it may also now be obsolete. :?

It really is time for VW to come up with a consistent resolution for all customers who bought in good faith. Letting dealers minimise their losses at customers expense is utter bs.

When I ordered my car it was the same week that my dealership (and presumably all dealerships) had been sent an email to say that VW would not be accepting any more orders for 1.5’s; but that wasn’t because they were stopping production, it was because demand had far outstripped the available supply. I believe it is the most popular engine choice now so perhaps this supply issue has come around again?
