Adblue / Range

Post by Webby03 » Wed May 08, 2019 12:47 pm

Good Afternoon,

New to this forum and looking for some help.
Own my first VW and First car with Adblue, received the car and range says 3500miles (not sure if this is full?)
I have since receiving the car drove 624miles and of which i drive quite economically, try to conserve my diesel.

Driving home on Friday night alert came on to say Adblue low 650miles remaining, engine wont start when empty

I have called VW Customer service who told me "Doesnt sound right, drop into a VW garage and they will have a look"

Went to VW dealership and was told this sounds right  (again!!) but they will need me to leave it with them for a day for them to do a diagnosis on the vehicle.

How is everyone else getting on with the Adblue and range of it.

When my T-Roc arrived the Adblue range said 6000 miles. I have now done 3800 miles & the Adblue range now says 4500 miles but I could top up with 5 litres. I am concerned that if the Adblue tank is 12 litres & it would take 5 litres why the range still appears to be so high.

How do you know you could top up with 5 litres?
Strange that mine arrived with 3500 in tank (assumed this was full) yours with 6000miles in.

It gives me the minimum & maximum top up quantities in the active info display.

Minimum 4 litres, maximum 5.5 litres.

I was not aware that the 1.6 required ad blue to get the emissions down to Euro 6
I have a Merc 2.2 that has no requirement for this treatment.
Does the 2.0 TDI 150 require ad blue?

Everyone will have different figures/calculations anyway.
Copied this off the vw t-roc brochure.
(I'm not talking about tank size obviously)

The size of the AdBlue® tank fitted to your car will vary depending on which Volkswagen model you have, therefore the interval between top-ups will vary. In addition, many factors such as mileage, journey type, driving style and
environmental conditions can influence how much AdBlue® is consumed. A passenger car can consume approximately 1.5 litres of AdBlue® every 620 miles (1.0–1.5 litres for the Passat and Passat Estate). The chart below details
the AdBlue® tank size and location.

As far as I know the 2 litre TDI uses Adblue.

I drive mostly motorway miles so it’s obviously not using much Adblue.

The 2.0 TDI 150 does have Adblue.
It is good to have something to help the environment, together with the stop/start.

Thanks trocsel, it's nice to have it direct from an owner :D

Hi
My 1.6 needed a 10 ltr top up after 6000 miles. This filled the adblue tank. I mainly drive 500 miles a week mainly on A roads. The car was brand new when I received it. I’m also unsure of the average usage/consumption.
