Throttle valve problem

Post by davidf27 » Sun Jun 07, 2020 9:08 am

Driving home yesterday i had an EPC warning light come on and the engine became very juddery whilst trying to accelerate, upon starting the car today this problem has continued almost making it undrivable.

Have had the AA out this morning and was identified immediately that the throttle valve is stuck, the AA guy said it was his 3rd VW with the same problem this week.

Anyone else had a problem like this?

Due to the dealership being reduced hours etc the car is being recovered by AA tomorrow morning. Hopefully i can get a replacement car sorted to get to work tomorrow!!

I've also had this problem and strangely enough it occurred as I picked the car up from it's first service.
Took it straight back to VW who diagnosed it and fixed it by the next day.
Somewhat disconcerting at the time but thankfully no repeat problems since.

Strange ... Davidf27 has a 1.0 while Bellasdad has a 1.5. What engine is yours Baz ?

I would expect the throttle valve/mechanism to be different between those engines, so maybe it's just bad luck and coincidence.

My T Roc was delivered Oct 2018. Been very reliable.

Third service two days ago at 26000 miles. Didn’t use it yesterday.

Today the EPC light came on. Robinsons Norwich can’t fit me in for four days.

I thought this was to much of a coincidence even before I read this thread. I am very annoyed and will tell the dealership so when I drop the car off on Monday. Just what are they doing to trigger this problem.
