Hi all,
Well the saga goes on my dealer has had the car 3 more times trying to resolve the map update but failed due to the maps being replaced with June 2020 version so that has been set aside for now, Having got the car back now found the e-sim would not stay connected this was fixed with help from the VW Germany but now it will not remember I am the primary user and will not remember my s-pin so every time I start/stop the car it asks me to input all again.
VW technical has now asked the dealer to have the car again to try a different fix .

So now I have another issues when changing gear 1st to 2nd the engine looses power resulting in my having to keep the revs at 3000 and slipping the clutch to prevent stalling so adding this to the map update issue and now the MIB 3 keeps asking to input my details every time I have started the rejection process.

A good car but totally spoilt by stupid problems so after 6 months enough is enough,

Hi Buddy, this is really sad for you, but I can fully appreciate where you are coming from. I really hope that VW UK are feeding all these complaints back to VW Germany so that lessons can be learned by them.
I have had 8 VW cars in a row, and have been totally satisfied ... until now. Sadly, it will make me think twice about buying another. I'm sure you feel the same.

Very sorry to hear of your spate of troubles Buddy. I don't think your experience is typical, but obviously you've had a lot of bad luck compounded by VW seemingly not knowing how to correct these annoying faults.

Have you spoken to your dealer about your plans for rejection ? If you are prepared to have another VW (T-Roc or another model), it might be worth discussing to see if the dealer is prepared to swap your car for a new or even nearly new replacement with a higher spec/price point as compensation and a good will gesture.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

High Buddy , I've had my T roc just over a week and could not find out how to delete recent destination from the sat nav and even went back to the main dealer I bought it from and asked them how only to be told they didn't know and would find out for me , I haven't heard from them yet so your answer on how to do it was brilliant , Where did you get your info from I would never have found that from the manual so thanks again .

I just read on the German forum a couple of guys said they were able to update their infotainment system software and sat-nav software version after leaving their usb-c pen drives attached for 2 days 🤷‍♂️

System software updated from 0270 to 0278
Nav 19.11 to 20.3

Worth another try I suppose?

The maps would be out of date by the time it completed that ?

The USB sockets are generally not powered on after the ignition is switched off (and the key removed ?). Are the USB-C ports different and permanently powered ?

Another possibility is that the data is transferred from the usb memory stick in dribs & drabs each time the ignition is turned on. Needs someone with a usb device which has an activity led which flashes when data is being transferred.

I totally agree, I don't understand how they've done it 🤷‍♂️

Not directly about the MIB3 but my old tiguan, the maps were installed on the head unit (RNS510), this was updated from a CD and that took hours to do. I was lucky i could leave the car with the ignition on accessory so it just got on with it. However if it was interrupted, it just continued from where it left off next time ignition came back on. So maybe just leave the memory stick in.

Well of course, with unzipped data, resuming transfer part way through will work and only one file would have to be repeated.

But why on earth should it take days or even hours to do, and why is there no message displayed on the screen to confirm data transfer is in progress, interrupted or resumed and some sort of progress bar or even just a simple percentage displayed ?

And, if this report is true, it's not just the software that's at fault. Why, why, why does no one in VW or dealerships know any of this ?
