I also heard this noise once while reversing the car. I hope it does not repeat again.

Re: Noise when reversing

I picked up my brand new troc in the middle of September, it is a 70 plate and I’ve only had it 8weeks. Last week I noticed a loud growing noise when reversing, it sound like a boat horn! Today I took it into a vw garage, they have phoned me to say they have found out it’s the front pads and they are changing them. I’m just a bit confused it’s the front pads, as it sound like it was coming from the back and when reversing. Has anyone had the same problem?

Brake noise from the rear when reversing (or mooing as it became known) was a fairly common fault on earlier cars and was usually resolved by replacing the rear brake pads and sometime also the discs. Mention this to the service dept. but it may just be a slip of the tongue.

Just taken my Car for it’s first service, mentioned about the mooing noise while reversing and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Changed the rear brake pads under warranty.

Glad your dealership were on the ball and honest. I mentioned it about my last T-Roc and was told “must be replicated in front of us” and of course it was a dry day so it didn’t happen. Current T-Roc has the same issue (it’s my opinion that they all do) and I’ll bet at my first service they’ll fight me on it again.

Hi Twist,

Mine did it 2 or 3 times when the car was a couple of months old but it hasn't done it since and the car is now 19 months old. Perhaps I've been lucky, although having poor hearing helps
