Buzzing dash in race mode

I’ve noticed that when in race or individual mode but with engine in race mode there is a buzzing when you get to around 3500 revs, seems to be coming from the central lower dash area. I did think it was my phone or usb cable initially until I moved them.

Also does anyone think when the engine is in race mode that the sound is more akin to a car not quite firing on all cylinders?

It’s the soundaktor trying to make the inside of the cabin sound nice...

I need to get around to disabling mine via obdeleven but others in golf R’s have reportedly disconnected the cable!

Re sound - in mine I can definitely see improvement as the cars gaining mileage!

Went out in it yesterday and tried again in different modes and it’s actually only about 2700 revs that the buzzing starts. If it is to do with the soundaktor then it’s either not fitted correctly or there’s another issue somewhere but definitely needs sorting as it will drive my mad. I remember when I bought one of the first R32’s 16 years ago it went back to the dealer for a full dash out because of an annoying dash rattle, hope this isn’t as much of an issue

I’ve got Ross tech VCDS which I bought a few months ago to use on an old Golf, do you think I would I be able to disable the soundaktor in this?

Its definitely the soundaktor mate - used to be a very common issue in the golf R’s

I’m certain vcds should do it as obdeleven just does the same coding but from an app instead - will post the module etc when I get round to it but easily available online and should be the same as golfs

There is another post on here about deactivating the noise generator. And I’m sure there was some code posted in there too. I’ll see if I can find it.

i had this buzzing noise recently. as soon as I apply throttle in race mode the dash made a strange buzzing noise. the buzz is quieter in normal and can't be heard at all in eco. turned out to be left over ice/snow in the scuttle tray/cover. cleared it all out and the noise went away.

Mine was a full dash out job. It was in for about 5 days to get it sorted.

Yeah got exactly this as well!!! I always drive in Race mode etc... but it's flipping annoying!

going to unplug the actuator first i think but I'll likely be having to go to VW for fixing!
