T roc 2.0 tsi SEL dsg 4 motion 2 .5 years old CHANCE TO IT.

Post by Fidds t roc » Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:33 am

Chance this week to part exchange my 2.5 year old car for a 2.0 ltr dsg 4 wheel motion R line in the same colour, white.
its comes with EXTRAS panoramic opening roof, black external roof parts, lumber supports driver and passenger, rear camera, winter pack heated seats and beats audio.
my problem is that the R line has 19inch wheels and suspension i believe is slightly lower suspension., current T roc has 18 inch wheels slightly more rubber on them.

yesterday we tested for a short period an R 300 HP MODEL in energetic orange, this was a disaster with the ride being very choppy over not that bad a road.
the wife was not impressed.

the R line has 19inch wheels and lower suspension, i hope that the R line i am making a decision on tomorrow is smoother ON THE ROAD

The R line in question is 4 weeks old and has under 2k on the clock, if you paid full wack for it from new after a long wait it would be just shy of £40 k.

i have a chance to buy the better looking R line with straight exchange for around £10k

so better car plus 3 near years warranty 2 years servicing with right deal TESTING TO BUY TOMORROW, but all rests on the ride quality compered to current.

another option is to buy it , hope the harder ride adapts to us, LOL if not sell it on, don't think it is much of a risk

anyone out there gone from standard tsi sel 2.0 ltr to an R LINE MODEL ?

Roll on tomorrow, car is 100 miles away.

I went from SEL (rejected it) to R-line (replacement) and in my opinion there wasn’t much of a difference. I mean this is my opinion and I’m reasonably young with decent bones (don’t know how old you are) and I quite enjoy the more sporty, planted feeling that it offers.

Yes, potholes will hit a bit harder but honestly I’d not say it was uncomfortable or certainly not excessively so compared to the SEL.

Is there no option for you to try an R-line at another dealership and see what you think?

I have a standard 2WD R-Line, and while the suspension could never be described as floating on air, it is not much worse than my previous Golf GT which also had lowered suspension but ran on 17" (or 18" ?) rims and 45 profile tyres similar to the T-Roc SEL. The biggest issue I think most owners have with the 19" rims and 40 profile tyres on the R-Line is wheel damage due to kerbing. If you can avoid that, then there shouldn't be much concern in my view and the pros outweigh the cons.

Trading up to a higher spec car, 2 weeks old vs 2-1/2 years, with full warranty, breakdown and service for £10k seems a good deal to me.

The 4Motion cars have a totally different multi-link rear suspension, which I think may give it slightly better ride than the 2WD. Owners of 4Motion cars can provide their own views, but they may not have driven 2WD R-Lines.

Why not road test the car you are considering ?

Thanks for answers guys.
i have enjoyed the 4 motion t roc i have very much and the overall spec is extremely good.

we like the compactness of this model and indeed i could get a really good deal on a R tiguan, but we just dont need that size of car.

i have had golf gtis and gt in petrol and diesel, also a smart forfour brabus 1.4 turbo 177 hp, very light very fast, very low very hard.
the missus did not really like any of them.NOTE SHE LIKES THE CURRENT SEL ONE WE HAVE but does see the sense in changing.

the road test is on for 10 o clock mask at the ready, lets see what happens.

once again thanks

cheers
pete

.
Are R lines nearly 40k now, if so that's just plain ridiculous, I thought the R was mad enough!
