Greetings from Amsterdam, NL!

Post by doggy » Wed Apr 22, 2020 5:55 pm

Hi all,

I'm a new member of the forum; been reading a lot lately and I thought I'd register myself to participate more actively.
I'm Kostas and I come from Athens - Greece but since 2012 I live in Amsterdam - NL.

Currently a happy owner of a brand new (build in January 2020, received mid Feb) fully loaded T-Roc Sport/R-Line 2.0 TSI. Not real R though  - as I wanted it, in NL it reached a price tag of 72k euro but nonetheless, I'm aiming towards:

a. converting it to a fully blown R (most probably as I've done similar in the past (see 2nd car below)
b. persuade the Mrs. (she's my finance "supervisor") that the current one is not fast enough and then agree to sell this and go for an R.

Here's a couple of pictures of my clementine:

Currently it's only received external improvements, de-chroming / wrapping and painting all silver details in black gloss, brake calipers painted orange and powdercoated rims in glossy black; though this last mod has proven to be a nightmare. At the wheel store while they were installing them back they lifted the car with the trunk open and they scratched the (back then / 2 weeks ago) 4 weeks old car of mine!! I'm still in a process of fixing it as their painter didn't do a good job and I'm planning have my legal insurance to chase them.
While this is being fixed I'll also do a ceramic coating and probably paint the inlays of the rear emblem in the same color as the car.

And the 2nd car that is still in Greece and waiting for the Covid-19 situation to get better so that it joins me in NL is a VW Polo 6N that I bought 2nd hand in 1998. That was a 1048cc with 45hp and it's been changed since 2005-2007 (different iterations of improvements) to a 1598cc with a GT28BB and ECU/fuel injectors sensors from a Lancia Delta Intergralle 😁 .

3 years ago it was also completely repainted using Fiat 258A colour (Ferrari red), and got a custom interior work done.

Here are some photos of my other love.

This one since it's stuck in Greece at my mechanic (I left it at my last trip for a clutch replacement), it's currently being redone in the engine bay; everything is getting cleaned up (cable wise), silicon collars are being installed and metal parts are being painted in black and red colours. 😍

That's all from me.
If you made it that far in my post and read it all, thank you! 🙂
Pleasure to be here!

Welcome to the forum Kostas.

Do you do that work for a living, or just spend every hour of your spare time on it. The results look fab and you could easily charge to do similar work for others.

Welcome Kostas. Now that’s what I call an intro! Your cars look great and you sound like a real pro. I’m sure you’ll inspire a lot of owners here; I know that as I was reading your post I wanted to get out and clean my car!

Love the mods you have done to personalise your cars 8-)

Welcome to the T-Roc forum Kostas.
I have a couple of questions about your beautifully personalized T-Roc. Firstly, do all the changes that you have made affect your car's warranty and insurance, because they certainly would in the UK. Secondly, I'm curious as to whether the radar unit behind the VW grille motif still works through the layer of black paint.

Once I get the rear lights tinted a bit and get the ceramic coating done (over the coming 3-4 weeks in total), I'll post some more pictures of it as a complete car. And then I'll need everyone's help with exhaust, reprogramming etc... I have big plans

Nope, I'm just spending all my spare time on it. Also I happen to be working in the IT industry where I can be a bit more flexible with working hours and run around for it.

Thanks a lot T-Roo, I'm happy to be here! And yeah, I have a soft spot for these things; I got it probably from my father who in 1987 bought a Golf MK2 CL that got its engine later on swapped for a GTI and had it custom installed with a turbocharger in Italy (because there were no such tuners in Greece then). :D :geek:

Heh, correct; I'm the admin of the vwclub.gr forum :-)
Though the T-Roc is based in NL and it's with its Dutch license plates and a vwclub.gr sticker on the back ;)

Hey Rocadoodledo, thanks for the comments. So the chrome-delete changes are all layers of 3M wrap; no coloring or dismantling of things has taken place for those. And thus the warranty isn't affected. As for the radar, it's also wrapped with 3M foil and it works absolutely fine. I've done ~800-900km since I had it wrapped and it's working without any issues.
