Post by Maccauk85 » Sat Aug 03, 2019 11:46 am

New to Forum had troc now via NHS Fleet solutions for 2 months and love the car.

Now getting a bike wonder if trock tailgate will take a bike rack or am I better off getting roof one.

Hi there. I purchased an aftermarket set of roof bars & an aftermarket pair of cycle carriers to fit onto the roof bars. Total cost £50 from eBay. I’ve seen the ones that fit to the tailgate for £30 on eBay but was put off by reports of some T-ROC’s rear spoilers coming loose on the faults section of this forum. As the tailgate type cycle racks are secured by straps that would put the spoiler under load, I figured it wasn’t worth the risk even if the tailgate ones are cheaper & easier to use

I have used the tailgate type carrier with previous cars. No matter how much I tried to do the straps up it still moved about causing rubbing here and there. With our UP! I remove the wheels and put the bikes in the boot but my wife doesn’t like it. The height of the T-Roc put me off lifting bikes onto the roof so we decided on the towbar option this time. Not the cheapest but ......

I have Thule roof bars and 4 Thule cycle carriers (two types) and I'm very satisfied with them. The outside ones, which are easier to reach, are model FreeRide 532, and other ones are ProRide 591.
Although I'm not to tall (178 cm) in this configuration I can easily lift and fit 4 bikes.

Being a mountain biker I like to take my bike places, I have roof bars from my tiguan but I'm guessing they might be too big, I have the Thule Edge WingBar and wondered if anyone has tried these on a T roc?

Hi CJD, I know it was a while ago, but could you please tell me which bars/feet/cycle carriers you bought from eBay? (Or even better, the links if you have them!) There’s so many on there, but if you’ve had success with some (and for that price!) then I’ll give them a go
