Using Accessories on a Keyless car

Post by Swsgm30 » Tue Sep 03, 2019 10:02 pm

I've had my Troc for 6 months now and have to say that I'm absolutely deighted with all aspects of the car. :) :)
Obviously I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had to suffer any of the problems often muted within the Forum. :D :D
It's taken a while to 'semi'master the eccentricities of the Infotainment and Settings menus etc and I've now even managed to set up separate Driver Profiles for my wife and myself :o :o (I've had to put her in as Driver 1 and now scroll down to myself on Startup as she was getting a bit confused with different combinations that I was trying) ;) ;)
However, one thing always frustrates me when I'm 'playing' with Settings or want to play the Radio when parked, I seem to have to have the engine running as, otherwise, all power is off :!: :!:
On a 'Keyed' car, presumably the 'Roc is no different, one only has to turn the ignition key one click and everything is powered up . but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this on Keyless :? :?
As I write I've got a horrible feeling I'm missing something really elementary, if so I shall maintain to my death bed that there were 2 pages stuck together in my User Manual

On my ford if you wanted to just play the radio or CD I just pushed the volume button to turn it on.
To access the menus just push the start stop button briefly to turn on.
It’s only when you hold the button down that the ignition fires the engine up.
Not sure on the roo as mine has a key.

With the Golf DSG (keyless) press the start button, but don’t press the brake pedal and the ignition comes on without starting the engine, which means you can adjust the driver settings etc. (Key still has to be in range)
Ordered R line 1.5tsi DSG Indium Grey 11/03/19
Built wk 34 and in transit 23/08/19
Arrived at the UK Port. 11/09/19

Thanks guys, will try the 'not pressing the brake pedal' trick later.
And the prize for the prettiest reply has to go to hike imperial .. Though it was the most difficult to read
