My 1.0 TSI does the same as in the video on initial startup, finally settling at 900 rpm.

Yep seems normal enough :P

Looked at mine going home from work, started at around 1200rpm but the ambient temperature was 14°C.
Took around 50 seconds to settle down to 800 rpm.
1200rpm to 1000rpm 15 seconds
1000rpm to 800rpm 35 seconds

Mine was slightly different than kostas_p.

His was 1400rpm to 1200rpm
1200rpm to 800rpm

Mine 1200rpm to 1000rpm
1000rpm to 800rpm.

I'll try again on a cooler morning 🥴🤔🤷‍♂️

Never had an issue like this on my T-Roc or previous Golf (both DSG). Report it to the dealer and let them check the car, but I doubt if it has anything to do with the gearbox. Sounds more like an engine management or throttle issue.
So you're saying yours doesn't do it, or have you just not noticed 🤔🤷‍♂️

I knew mine did it but never paid attention until now 😉

Well any car with auto choke and engine management will start a cold engine at higher than normal revs and then gradually reduce that just as you would do with a manual choke. I expect most owners have never had a manual choke, but this is perfectly normal behaviour.

There may be some variation from car to car, butnagain that is to be expected.

I would say this is just a cold start cycle and very normal. May well very from engine size to engine size.

Yes it all sounds pretty normal doesn't it , If you speak to any of us old gits who had cars with manual chokes we had to set the cable to pull the throttle to a certain point to give a quicker tick over for a while to get it warmed up quicker .
