2018 T-Roc collected today issues already

Post by calgacus » Sat May 29, 2021 9:36 pm

Hi Guys

I know i've only just joined today, ive just picked up my t-roc from the dealership drove it home and my son spotted a loose plastic panel under the driversside sill. Further inspection reveals a large slice of the plastic cover panel has been previously marked with a yellow bodyshop pen then cut out along the yellow line. There is an identical cut on the passengers side in line with the drivers side one. I can't think of any valid reason why anyone would need to cut into these panels in the first place, unless to do work to the floor of the car ?. I found this issue within 1 hour of collecting the car. So there is no way the dealership did not know about it. I am going back to them tomorrow but would like to be prepared for any of their excuses as to why it is in this condition.
i have included some pictures

Any advice welcome

Thanks guys

Geez, that's horrendous. Fitting and removal of side running boards springs to mind.

Can't imagine why anyone would leave it like that even if they had started to fit running boards in error.

Look for more than a simple apology.

The T-Roc is a fine choice of car normally calgacus, however this particular one doesn't look roadworthy to me. Surely it wouldn't pass an MOT in that condition. It must have been in that state for a while because there is obvious corrosion beginning to take hold on the metal underside where it hasn't had the protection of the plastic moulding. If it were my car I would'nt be happy with them patching it up either, there may be other issues with it, so I'd be demanding an explanation and a replacement T-Roc. When you confront the dealership be firm but polite, staying calm is the best way to get results. Good luck, and let us know how you got on.

That looks in awful contition for a 3 year old car!! My 'other' car is a 7 year old Renault Megane and it's nowhere near as corroded as that. I don't know what your Rights are with a 2nd hand car .. hopefully if the dealer is honourable you'll be able to say you've changed your mind and bale out (if that's what you want)

Unbelievable how a car could be sold like that and it's a pity you didn't notice it on your initial viewings 🤷‍♂️🙈

I don't really see corrosion (at least from the photos) but dirt, maybe it just needs a set of new underbody protection panels?

If you've lost heart ask for a full refund, if you're not overly disheartened get an independent survey done on the whole car to put your mind at rest.

It might simply be the plastic panels are the only problem 🤷‍♂️

Good luck with the outcome.

This damage is bad. How did you not notice this when you examined it before you bought it. Did you test drive it and was it from a dealer or bought privately. Surely no reputable dealer would expect to sell a car in this condition
