Active dials

Post by Impala » Sun Jun 06, 2021 1:05 pm

I've had my T-Roc for 2 years and thought I'd pretty much grasped every feature and setting. I admit I was wrong.

A few weeks ago in a separate topic, there was some discussion about the dynamic blue circular arcs and associated white pointers/arrows which move around the 2 main 'dials' in the Active Info Display.

This morning I discovered something else about the dials in the AID. The font size of the numbers on the scales (1, 2, 3, 4 etc. around the rev counter and 20, 40, 60, 80 etc. around the speedometer) changes as the virtual 'needle' moves round the dial. The numbers closest to the needles, on both sides, are displayed in a larger font than the numbers further away from the needles. It looks like there may be 3 or 4 different font sizes, and as the needles move round the scale, the font size increases and decreases as if there was a magnifier attached to the needle. It's really quite clever and makes the numbers closest to the needles much more visible.

In 2 years of driving the T-Roc, I have never realised this was happening and had to pay close attention to be sure I wasn't imagining this.

I wondered how many other people have noticed this simple but effective feature.

I only noticed the coloured bar follow the needles around (both mph/rpm I think) , I must take another look tomorrow πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I suppose you only glance at the dials the odd time so things can be missed 🧐

Yes I looked at it today and it's barely noticeable to be honest πŸ‘ŒπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Try with your specs on ... or just sit stationary and blip the throttle a few times and watch the numbers on the rev counter as the needle approaches and passes them.

No I definitely noticed OK.
The mph/rpm numbers also illuminate brighter.

Definitely a good observation though.

I'm 2.5 years into ownership as well, what else don't we know πŸ˜‚πŸ€”

I've had the car for 12 weeks now and apart from the first day or two I can't see my total mileage anymore...! I'll have to spend a few hours ploughing through the menus to get it back....

Total mileage disappears when you have something like ACC on which replaces the total mileage but it should still appear when you turn your engine off. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Or switch off ACC, left hand steering switches, upper right, toggles ACC on and off.

Thank you both of you! Both work. You've saved my aged brain losing any more sleep over it :-)

P.S. Great forum, I've learned loads by reading through the many interesting posts.

P.P.S. I WILL introduce myself soon (with some photos of the brilliant T-Roc) - I just need to get round to it....!
