Re: Delayed build week (major)

Yesterday I called in to my local VW Inchcape dealership in Manchester to purchase a 'touch-up' Paint Kit and to get some help sorting out my problem with smart phone not connecting to Android Auto.

Whilst I was there I enquired as to how many in-stock T-Rocs they had for those posters still awaiting delivery / BWs etc and therefore considering cancelling their orders.

I was unable to attach .pdf files [provided by Inchcape] of the list of 17 T-Rocs located throughout the UK ready for September delivery so I have cut and pasted info below:

However Car colour icons missing so have coded them viz:

BODY:
DB = DEEP BLACK PEARL
AB = ATLANTIC BLUE
RB = RAVENNA BLUE
FR = FLASH RED
IG = INDIUM GREY
UG = URANO GREY
EO = ENERGETIC ORANGE
TY = TURMERIC YELLOW
PW = PURE WHITE
WS = WHITE SILVER

ROOF:
B = BLACK
DOB = DARK OAK BROWN
FR = FLASH RED
PW = PURE WHITE

Column headings - Colour, Vehicle description, Stock type, Vehicle status, Year, Order number Reg No. Build week.

And now VW are facing this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-41346998
That was 21st Sept. 2017 (last year).
I think they may have sorted that problem by now ☺

Called in to see my friend in the VW dealership Alicante.
Whilst I was there he actually downloaded the factory printout for expected delivery dates for the whole range of Vw build vehicles.
Whilst it can be accepted that this is for the Spanish market it stated clearly.
Walk in and order a 1.5 dsg today T Roc listing showing one should expect delivery April/May 2019.
So there you are, seems that 8 months seems around the norm wherever you live.

Thanks for the update JAMCT and for taking the time to provide those lists from Inchcape Manchester.

It certainly looks like things are moving along the production line at last. Interesting your list only included Manual Gearboxes. My bet too is that these are the pre September (2018) build models that have been sitting in car-parks in Portugal for the last few months awaiting WLPT approval. Not a problem of course, but but at least the supply chain is on the move.

For those waiting for the 2019 1.5 TSI's with DSG gearboxes, my dealer says they should start DSG builds in the next 2-3 weeks... Then it's just "wait your turn". 1.5TSI Manuals are being built as we speed however... so it won't be too long for some.

My experience is simillar. Ordered 1st May2018 dealer said 12 weeks delivery. Used VW app to check progress but didn't work. contacted VW chat and was told that when I placed the order delivery time was 25 weeks. They have now said build date 8th October 2018 but this is not confirmed and could be delayed even further. Should have had this for 1st Sept delivery but now looks more like November or December. This could have an effect on value of vehicle when i want to change. The dealer said he would keep me informed after I placed the order but hasn't been in touch about the delay. I am seriously thinking of cancelling order but am worried if i will be able to get my deposit returned.

Not great you feel that way, you will get your deposit back, you might get fobbed off a couple of times but you are entitled to it....I had similar when ordering a Skoda Karoq, got so miffed with dealers lies I wanted to cancel but was worried about getting my deposit back until I was informed that in the T+C's it says deposit will be returned if order cancelled and no actual physical vehicle is assigned to the order....or something to that effect.
Various forums are reporting that dealers are allowing people to cancel and returning deposits due to the delays with minimal fuss. Can't see it being a problem, all the vehicles and specs I wanted where all going to be long waits so I decided just to wait on a T-Roc and was worried about the delays but its arrived early!
