Is the T-Roc a “noisy” car?

Post by Evetroc77 » Sat Jan 26, 2019 8:25 pm

My last 3 cars have been a Golf so I don’t know any different, so please forgive my ignorance. But I find my new T-Roc noisy compared to driving the Golf (my previous car was a 1.4 match manual/petrol).

I’m now driving the T-Roc 1.5 SE petrol/manual. I’m not technically minded and happy to be corrected/explained to by any of you out there but is the noise difference merely down to the car being higher up, slightly larger wheels...etc and generally what I’m not used to? Or is it my imagination?

Thanks in advance fellow t-roc owners!

I’ve got a 1.5 sel T-roc & previously had a golf GTD. I honestly can’t say there’s a lot between them. There is slightly more a pillar wind noise on the motorway but other than that I’d say they were pretty much on the same level.

Same, changed from Golf GTI to T-Roc. Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference in noise...

This could be something as simple as road noise due to the type of tyres fitted to both cars. A lot of tyres now have the noise specified and some brands/ranges are marketed on the basis of being low noise. It might be worth a check.

I also came from a Golf Gti to a 1.5 T roc and both cars at 60-70 mph equally quiet with some tyre noise on certain surfaces

I moved from a 2.0 ltr Golf GT with 17" wheels to the Troc R-line 1.5 petrol with 19"wheels. I personally don't think there is a lot of difference with cabin noise between the 2. If I had to choose I would say the Troc is slightly the better of the 2 noise wise.
