VW sponsoring ITV movies

Post by Steve » Sun Jun 21, 2020 9:34 pm

VW are sponsoring ITV movies in the UK.Before the adverts start and when they end there is a small cameo clip made by VW.Has anyone noticed that when the woman locks the T-ROC the car bleeps to let her know that it is locked.Does anyone else have a car that does the same. All i hear when i lock mine is the noise of the locks clicking.

More specifically, it's a setting available in the central control module, and can be enabled from the factory, or with VCDS or OBDeleven. Some markets it's expected, and often enabled on films just to emphasise the car being locked.

I enabled it for a while when the misses got a polo and couldn't hear it locking, but after a while she became bored with it. :-)

I think all these options should be available for the customer to choose or not, especially when they are already there.
The open/closure chirp is an on/off option via the infotainment system as well, which is even more reason

Maybe its not ment to be activated, an EU noise pollution rule 🤔

I just found the advert on YouTube (it’s quite funny actually) and the lock chirp sounds better than the default clown-car honk as well. Is there an OBD long code for that @Verberbongo2? or shall we ask Ted the cameraman from VW’s production team?

Wonder what customer services would say if I asked them how I enable the chirp. “Yes I bought a T-Roc after seeing your advert because I liked the chirp when locking the car. How do I enable this?”

Got this from the Tiguan coding, worked fine on my 2016 polo:

Alarm beep on lock / unlock

Go into [09] Central Electronics

Go into Security Access and enter 31347

Adaptation channels, and you are looking for:

(1)-Acknowledgement Signals -Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (un-lock acoustic feedback)

(2)-Acknowledgement Signals -Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (lock acoustic feedback)

Set one or both to on if you wish.

Then set the following to "on"

(7)-Acknowledgement Signals -Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung (Acoustic lock menu)

*** This enables a menu setting in the "car" settings, "Locking" menu of the infotainment screen to set alarm chirp on or off when locking /unlocking the car and have the option to switch it on or off from the head unit.
