UNHAPPY MODS

Post by T Roo » Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:13 pm

The new Happy Rock-ers thread is great for everyone who has a 'good' roo-free T-Roc. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1332

But, for balance, this thread is for those not so happy with their expensive, faulty purchase.

In many ways I hope this is a short thread with the majority that have bought into the 1.5 VAG engine (including VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat) happy with their purchase.

But as sure as there is night and day, black and white, leave and remain, there are many, many unhappy T-Roc owners, many of whom have already rejected their cars and left the pogo-Roc behind.

We are the hard working, responsible, tax-paying, suburban backbone of the UK. We are sophisticated, decent and honest people; we are the personification of the modern car owner.

In summary, We are, we are, WE ARE THE MODS!

mods.jpg

So far, we MODS have experienced some or all of the following delightful T-Roc traits:

The Kangaroo
Wind noise
Mooing brakes
Spoiler adhesion failure
Lower-grade materials (hard plastics and easily scratched perspex)
Dodgy parcel shelves
Early clutch burnouts
Ignition key issues
Grooved brake discs
Connectivity issues
Oil leaks
Random error messages
Coasting horrors
General misery

If any of the above (and more) have happened to you, you are a MOD. If not, you are a Happy Rock-er with a pure, rose-tinted soul.

See you soon on Brighton beach

What about the start stop on the DSG.
It’s a disaster and the driver has no control over it.
So it’s on or off. That’s good for the planet.

Are most of those issues really that widespread? I’ve not experienced anything bad except the roo, fortunately. Touch wood!

Are the mooing brakes a MY18 thing only? How immediately did people notice them? I’ve not done that many miles in the 6 weeks of ownership (around 700).

I actually find the stop/start reasonable on the T-Roc. It was awful on my old Golf because the engine was quite lively on ignition so you really felt it. Despite the roo, my 1.5TSI is beautifully smooth on ignition.

That said, I’m a little concerned about what people have been talking about lately in regards to it failing to start again. I hope that’s isolated and they get it fixed.

I’m not sure this thread is needed. There are plenty of examples already on here. Also how many people have repeat issues of the problems you have listed? Every car manufacturer has problems. But you seem to want to just stop people buying t rocs by listing things that probably only 1 or 2 people have experienced.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you have ever owned a T-Roc? The list is comprised of faults, some of which are frequently reported by owners i.e. people who have actual experience of the car.

Whether you think the thread is needed or not is irrelevant. It exists. It was intended to be tongue in cheek but I am always happy to discuss the T-Roc so that there is a broad spectrum of opinion for potential owners to draw on :D

To be fair, mooing hasn't been reported for a while but anyone who didn't experience the issue, especially when reversing in their brand, spanking new car, you can hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkZKTc6 ... e=youtu.be
