Ordering a factory build

Post by Tigermad » Wed Jul 10, 2019 7:52 pm

Hi. I am scouring the country to find a troc already ordered/built with the extras I want but it’s a fruitless search. Will probably just place the order for brand new the next day or so. The only downside I can see to doing this is the additional taxes that may come from the Brexit situation and of course the long wait.

Because I want the 1.5 petrol engine I am also hoping the kangaroo problem has been nipped in the bud. Is there any other downsides of a factory build at the moment? I’m a bit confused by the derogation thread and don’t understand what this means for people who get their cars October/November which is the build estimate at the moment.

Would you still factory build at the moment?

The Brexit car tax is really just completely unknown. As others have said: VW won’t want to be undercut by non-EU car manufacturers but I just can’t see them taking a 10% hit. This one really is completely up in the air at the moment.

As for the 1.5TSI issue: as far as I can tell it’s still a total shambles. Dealer I bought from says the fix is out and I’ve to go to my local VW. My local VW says the update is not available and they have no timeframe. Given how long VW have taken to still not come up with a solution, I’m not fully confident they will actually sort it and I may end up rejecting my T-Roc (as much as I love the car otherwise).

Not really any other downsides to factory ordering other than those you’ve mentioned.

Not sure about the derogation thing. Maybe others can help clarify that for you!

Build times are improving, however they're still pretty long.

What extras are you looking for?

R line with rear camera, electric tailgate, keyless entry and the driver assist pack and possibly lumber support since most people on here say it’s worth getting.

Yeah, you'll probably need to factory order ... good choices though.

When I called up a local garage at the weekend they told me they are stopping production of the 1.5 petrol. First time I have heard this. He didn’t elaborate any further. Not sure what happens once ordered if they scrap it.

Last month I had to factory order our T-Roc as I wanted a 1.5 DSG with options and not the 1.6 the dealership had. As with some here who ordered in May expected delivery date is 31 October.
I was in our dealer at the weekend as VW had an SUV Event to sell cars. Nothing was said about stopping production of the 1.5.

Spend your money on something else instead of key-less entry. I would gladly pay that same amount to NOT have it. What's the point of carrying around a key if you are never going to use it, and then pay extra for the privilege of doing so?

I have had keyless on all my cars. I would be lost without it now. It is so handy not having to find it in your bag when its raining and stuff. If I had the bargain of the century car price that didnt have it I would consider it but if I am to factory I order I have had an excellent price that includes it anyway.
