Interior light switch illumination

Post by Impala » Tue Oct 15, 2019 7:52 pm

Now that the dark evenings have arrived, I've discovered that the interior light switches (reading lights etc.) are not illuminated in my T-Roc, making it very difficult to find the switches in the dark. I think every other switch in the car is illuminated.

Can other owners please confirm if their interior light switches in the roof console are illuminated or not.

So the only switches in the car which are not illuminated are the ones used for switching on the interior lights, something which you would only do when it is dark AND CAN'T SEE THE DAMN SWITCHES ... this sounds like a typical VW farce

I don't think my wife would like doing that when I'm driving at 60 mph in the dark :o

On the other hand, I could keep a torch in the car for such situations

On a serious note thought Impala i purchased a glow in the dark ring to go around my ignition so i could see it better in the dark.So i would imagine that there must be some kind of glow in the dark sticker or something similar that you could put on your switches.

On a near £30k car I would have expected glow in the dark stickers to be free

But seriously, most other switches are used frequently in daylight so you get used to where they are located and they become easier to find. But as I pointed out, the only time you will ever want to switch on the interior/reading lights is when it is dark. Without illumination they are next to useless. Is this a cost saving or just stupid ?

perhaps opening the sun visor mirror - its LED can help, and it's easy to find when it's dark

Anyone come up with an idea yet to highlight these switches?
I was thinking of maybe trying a bit of photoluminescent tape or similar, haven't had a good look at it yet.

There must be some genius on here that can come up with something
