Mine is right hand drive but my "whole" windscreen demist's OK for me although it depends on how heavily.
It would normally take my car 5 minutes to demist after me giving it a wipe with a chamois leather. (heavily misted, wet)
I'll assume you're using the fast demist button which also turns on the AC?

It is not uncommon for a car to demist quicker on one side than the other, in my case the right hand side (UK driver side) clears quicker, just as it did on my previous Golf and other cars. This might be due to external factors such as where the car is parked, wind direction and any shelter from walls or fences etc. that might influence the external temperature of the glass.

Also, although using the Max (Screen) setting will direct the air to the screen vents and set the fan to maximum etc., there can still be air coming out of the face vents at the left & right sides of the dash, so I find it demists quicker if I close these vents and then remember to open them again once the screen has started to clear. Another useful tip is that provided you don't make any changes to the controls after activating the Max (Screen) function, then the previous settings will be restored when you deactivate the Max (Screen).
