Updated Tiguan

Post by lynyrds88 » Wed Jul 01, 2020 8:49 am

Hi,

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new- ... ug-ehybrid

Looks actually pretty cool. :) Finally, a new climate control panel, but wondering why still a gigantic thing is needed for the gear selector. :D

By the way, I've noticed, that Tiguan finally also uses Active info display found in T-Roc and there is a clock even finally. I'm pretty sure that it's a software tweak only and it would be great to have an update on T-Roc, but... I guess not gonna happen.

The touch operated climate control seems to be optional, as are touch 'switches' and sliders on the steering wheel.

Not sure either is a great idea as I already hate touch controls on the Infotainment system that are hard to hit the right one as you bump along the road.

This is a nasty trend already adopted by other manufacturers with everything operated via a touch screen and not a switch in sight. I think there have been some studies suggesting these are distracting and potentially dangerous to operate.

100% agree. I cannot stand this obsession with touch-screen nonsense. I would not buy the new Golf because of its ridiculous new touch-only control system. Same with a Tesla. I don’t even particularly like using touch input for GPS but since the voice control is utterly pants, I don’t have much choice mid-drive! Don’t need a study to tell me it’s dangerous to take your eyes off the road to interact with a screen.

Just imagine how much a Tiguan R is going to cost!
T-Roc 2.0 Tsi R 300bhp.
White with black roof.
Reverse camera.
Electric boot.
Plus all usual extras on the R.

The Tiguan since around 2018 already switched to the AID mk2 which we with T-cross and T-roc also get. Lots of complaints on their forum too about the missing clock! I didn't notice it was now on the new Tig, great if it is, better if we could have it added.
