Yes, good luck Ian
Can I just ask how many miles it had done ?
Thanks and all the best.
4000 miles - recon it would be 6500 by the time October came around.

Good luck Ian ,
Bit weird the difference in Usage Charge .
Hope things go better with the Merc .
Assume it is based on him keeping the car until the new one arrives. I too was offered this option but declined as I was paranoid I'd have an accident and then couldn't complete the Rejection..

I think it's fairly standard from them to offer to "bump you up" the waiting list too..

Good luck Ian.

Why do you have to pay usage charge for a faulty car you are returning?

Because you've had the use of it .. if its bad enough not to drive, then you return it early and pay no fee or get a loan vehicle whilst they process the Rejection. If it's "a bit rubbish" - then you have access to a car and that doesn't come for free...

It's just how the process works - there is significant legal precedence here - and it's usually on a per mile basis. In essence the car depreciates at a faster rate, so it's not really a bad deal..

Other manufacturers have offset this with "goodwill" and "loss of pleasure" etc too - so levelling out the "usage fees" - but it seems VW are less keen to give here..which is odd but not entirely surprising given their attitude to date..

I wish we had a survey of how many happy 1.5 owners there are.
We do have a survey. It is aimed at trying to assess the extent of the Kangaroo problem, so it is open to all forum members and we have tried to encourage everyone to complete the survey, regardless of whether or not they have a Roo.

Sadly we have had only 40 responses, about 2/3 by Roo owners, which is not surprising. However, the very low number of responses for a forum with many more members is very disappointing.

I'm not sure if the survey will still be running by the time you get your car, as there seems little point without a substantial increase in the number of responses. You can fins details on accessing the survey and the latest results here ... viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1050

Well done Ian ,it is a big decision to reject especially when all you want is the car to run properly, but as vw can't or won't admit that they have an elephant in the room (or kangaroo in this case)what else can folk do! I hope you enjoy your new merc you will feel a huge sense of relief as I did when you drive your new car and it doesn't skip down the drive or die in second gear ,you will then realise you made the correct decision to drop the ROO if more people follow your example maybe vw would take it more seriously ,but after18 months plus I doubt it,good luck with the car Ian you and other people who reject Trocs deserve it !

I'd echo that Ramy. As I drove the replacement off the forecourt I realised how it was supposed to have been.. I too loved the T-Roc in all other ways - but the main one mattered to me the most - how it drove and whether I felt safe in it - which was never the case in mine in low gears at junctions etc.

I would love to complete the survey but unfortunately my car seems to fall outside the survey parameters.

It’s classed as a 2019 model but was delivered 23/11/2018.

I have the kangaroo problem and wonder if there are others who have the problem with a car that was delivered in 2018.

What a decision, well done. I bottled out of the 1.5 and bought a 2.0 diesel and do not regret the decision.
Just remember that the stick for the wipers on VW is the gearshift on the Merc and don't push the end button whilst running as it does make a terrible noise. Out of habit I still put the wipers on trying to shift into reverse or wash the screen to go to "Drive"when in the T Roc. ;)
Enjoy your new choice.

What makes you think it is outside the survey parameters ?

Have you tried to complete the survey ? Please provide details if you encountered a problem.
