Just one point regarding VW’s reluctance to communicate by email (and leaving a paper trail), but preferring to telephone (leaving the argument of “you said, I said” and mishearing)... What would be their reaction be if you informed their caller that “for legal reasons this telephone conversation is being recorded”! Would they continue the conversation? Just a thought...
I did just that a couple of times but didn't mention "legal" as I expected that wouldn't end well. They were "ok" about it but on calls where we'd gone through that it was certainly more of a stifled / awkward conversation. The outcome for me though was useful and worth that overheard as I had "on record" them admitting there was a problem, which back then was a significant nugget. I would expect the conversation now, recorded or not, is likely to be less useful and really more of a process box tick for subsequent conversations..

Hah! Despite its rather grandiose title, it seems the 'executive office' of VW UK is a call centre with a script. They listen, they empathise, they placate and they call you back in a perpetual circle that's going nowhere. They leave it to dealers to sort things out on an individual basis and dealers are notoriously tight in guarding their profit margins. That which one customer may eke out could be entirely different to that which another customer achieves with one consistency: a strategy to minimise the losses for this dud car.

You know what pisses me off the most about this whole thing? The fact that these software updates are “trialed”. As if we are rats.

This is something I’ve noticed far too much in recent years: nothing is tested the way it used to be. It’s as if the current generation of software devs and manufacturers have no concept of making sure something works before making it public.

I agree, they will wait to see of it work on a few "test" subjects then release it to everyone. Like the IOS Betas

Hi folks just an update after 9 months of rooing and waiting/praying for a fix i have now decided to reject the car. I have been dealing with exec office since Jan and the girl has been superb!just to let you all know the calls to exec office are recorded and working in a similar environment bet they can be requested if needed.Which will be my route if i now have issues as i was told i had 1 year to reject. I have been in touch with the dealership by email and i am going in soon to discuss my options with the sales manager, i will keep you all posted

Good luck with your chat with the sales manager Kayi73 :) .

I think you're being very kind to the exec office given that your car has been rooing for 9 months and for 6 months of that time they have been aware of your predicament.

Great decision Kay you won't regret it ,its just a shame customers are still being served faulty cars ,I personally can't understand why people are crossing their fingers hoping there new car won't be infected! They should try to get a written guarantee from the selling garage (good luck with that one)

One solution when ordering the T roc is to confirm with the dealer (if possible) to test drive (cold engine)pre registration, not 100% ideal but at least no documentation is signed.
