Do any of these devices create a backup before applying changes, so that you can roll back at the touch of a button, or do you have to write everything down by hand? Another option might be screen shots if it is possible to display the settings before you start.

That might be one area were the 'complexity' of the obdeleven is actually helpful if it shows the bit/byte data, whereas the carista hides that detail. But perhaps with carista you just change 'enable' back to 'disable' etc. so long as you remember everything you changed.

Is the sequence significant when there are multiple steps (eg step 1 of 6 etc.), and would you start say at step 6 and work back to step 1 when reverting to the original settings ?

Just curious, as I wouldn't fancy having to go cap in hand to the dealer and say 'Sorry, I've messed up my car. Can you put it back the way it was'.

Exactly Impala that's why I haven't rushed into it but I've read a lot of the info on forums and it doesn't look to daunting.
Some changes are short ie 2 changes whereas some may have 6.
If you mess up it could be costly and embarrassing having to go to VW.

I know the obdeleven has a back up which you can revert from not sure about carista but I know you can revert back.

That's the whole idea of using the credits/subscription (obdeleven credits/carista subscription) on the apps as all the changes are done via the app itself and you can just revert back.
£9.99 for a week on carista or £31.99 for the year. (first month free also)
Obdeleven £31.99 for 500 credits, not sure how far that would go?

Also fez74uk is using a beta test version which has more options to change things but it's a test.

The more I look at it I might go for the carista because its better value, just not sure if it will do what I want though?
You could actually try and do everything you want on the first month free too?

Read up on the obdeleven forum there is some great stuff and the list will get bigger with time as will the option list on the carista might I add.

Hi fez74uk,
Have you activated sign recognition with Carista? I had a look into supported features on Carista website and didn't see it in the list.

Hi All,

I went on Carista way. Bought 1-week pass and then enrolled in beta testing. It seems they have deleted some features from beta (I'm on IOS platform). A few pages earlier I saw a traffic recognition menu, now it has been ceased, this was important for me. High Beam assist does not work even if it says "enabled", no feature available in Light setting. All that I've done - it is disabled Start/Stop, changed dial theme and just for fun enabled Scandinavian rear DLR. I've sent them reports, but now I find the Carista almost useless for me, most of the features were enabled by default, other not really useful, but as Carista ran not long ago, maybe in the future with our reports they could improve it.

Hmm that’s a bit disappointing. Think I’ll be giving Carista a miss then. The alt dials aren’t interesting enough for me to warrant the cost of the device/service.

Thanks for updating us :)

Yesterday, when I've played with Carista, I've changed infotainment theme, this is made no effect straight,

IMG_1520.png

but a few hours later, when I came back, the infotainment system stuck on the logo page, with no reaction on buttons, the radio worked fine, but nothing else.

I have rolled back to the default config but again it made no change. The next day only the system rolled back and now is working fine. As I understood, some changes required power reload, which happen 20-30 minutes later after ignition off.
I suspecting that high beam assist menu is not worked for the same reason.
I'll write report back to Carista.

I think any mods made on the infotainment system, you have to push in the power button and hold it to reset it for changes to kick in :)

I take it you haven't made the jump yet like myself  :P
If I'm honest my cars OK with what it's got but I think it's a case of wanting more stuff I don't need ;)

Nope but I’d have bought it for RGB lighting adjustment alone if the car had the hardware! If they add some interesting tweaks I’ll take another look.

Like you, I’m also a terrible habitual fiddler but there doesn’t seem enough to fiddle with on the T-Roc!
