Known 1.6 tdi faults

Post by wardich » Sun Feb 10, 2019 7:35 pm

I am in the process of rejecting my 1.5 petrol due to the well known kangarooing issue. My dealer has asked if I am interested in any other vehicle, and I am considering the 1.6 diesel. I am being lent a demonstrator diesel for a few days, which is available for sale. I was just wondering if anyone was aware of any common issues on the diesels and anything in particular to look out for while I have the car?

Hi
My last 3 cars, 2 sciroccos and an Audi have all been 2ltr diesels. Put lots of miles on all 3 and all of them totally trouble free. Have recently purchased a 1.6 R line Troc and I’m very pleased with it. Obviously if all your driving in done around town then it’s not an option. Big discounts at the moment on all diesels so make sure you get it. I got £4000 off mine. Only had 200 miles on the clock.

I'm also considering the 1.6 TDi R-Line and wondered how you're getting on? We've a 2.0 TDi Tiguan and on paper it's obviously a little bit slower, but I wondered how you're finding it in the real world? Similarly seen the diesel discounts and am v tempted by this - (the dealer doesn't have one in with this engine, but can let us try a Golf)

Hi
Just covered 6000 trouble free miles, mainly duel carriageways and motorways. I like the T roc and pleased with the 1.6 engine which I personally would recommend. Don’t get me wrong, I still think the 2 ltr engine would be my first choice but its a very decent alternative with enough power for me. It’s quieter than my last 2.0ltr engine with around 45-48 mpg.
Cheers.
