Car in for 3rd service in a few days and dealer has invited me to "check in" for this online. When you do this it allows you see what work will be undertaken and my car is also booked for a 91 MG recall. Did some fishing around and found this:
A new service campaign 91MG for the Golf 8 2020 to 2024 is just out.
It involves the reparametrisation of the emergency call module control unit and communication unit (OCU) which ensures that, in the case of an over-the-air update (OTA update), the download does not fail and there are no expensive repairs and downtimes.
Furthermore, after parametrisation it is possible to carry out online updates for the infotainment system without an applied and enrolled main user. This means that, for example, even a guest user can start an online update.
The vehicle or the infotainment system simply has to be set to the “No position data” status in the privacy settings.
I am not sure if this is the case for the US market too.
