Could be a bit of dirt in the moving surfaces, have had that on odd occasions, maybe try washing the mirror with the mirror both folded and in the normal driving position. If that doesn't work, try squirting some contact cleaner in over the top edge of the mirror between the housing and mirror edge, as it may be the mechanism has a bit of mucky in it.
Thanks for the reply.I have sprayed WD40 into the mirror casing and it has not made any difference

I had a creaking mirror from day one. The dealer inspected and said all was normal. It hasn't got any worse in 16 months so I presume it just the way it is designed. Warranty remains if this changes.
Lol how can they say it is normal, especially when it is only one mirror making the noise. It is getting quite loud now.

I seem to have fixed it by using sonax silicone spray, haven't had any problems with either mirror since applying that.
To those of you using wd40 - don't! - you risk making it worse, as it could dissolve whatever gearing oil is used in the internal mechanics. Wd40 is best as a disolver and not as a lubricant.
I dont think i have heard of that before,Where is the cheapest place to get it from.

Holts do something similar but much cheaper at around ÂŁ4 to ÂŁ5 a can.

Amazon have both Holts and Sonax on sale, but you might also try Halfords.
Used a silicon spray from Halfords today but it has not solved the problem :(

Had a new mirror fitted today while i had my car serviced. They said it was not normal for the mirror to make that noise. They showed me on a video that they had taken of the the indicator lights on the mirror. It showed that they had faded.Something that you would not notice while driving.I think it may of been the spray that i had used to try to stop the creeking. So beware if you have the same problem and are spraying inside of your mirror.

It's a shame you never recorded a video of your mirrors creaking, I would have liked to hear them.
I wish i had of done now.But they should not be making any creaking noise just a slight whining noise of the motors working.I could not believe how quiet the mirrors were on the courtesy car that i had for the day.

You can do a video of your new wing mirror so others can make a comparison ;)
(Keep the footage nice and close)

Thanks :p
I will do that tomorrow

Not sure the dimmed mirror indicator would be caused by spraying. When your mirror was making a noise, did you notice if the movement was slower than it is now ? It's possible that a poor earth connection was causing a voltage drop which might explain the dim indicator and a low voltage might cause the mirror to move in a series of small jerks causing vibration.
I don't think it was any slower than it is now.But it did also jerk as you described.

Where abouts on the mirror unit did you apply the Sonax spray havsgaard ? Was it over the top of the mirror glass, or did you spray into the fine gap between the base and the rotating body of the unit ?
Sorry about the late response, not been very active on forums the past weeks.

I sprayed it in between base and unit while locking/unlocking a few times. However, it has started to creak again, so I will probably have to give it another round. I can live with applying it a few times each year.
Keep a eye on your indicator lights on your mirror if you spray inside. The brightness had faded on mine , it may of been because i had sprayed mine too.
