Yes I have tried deleting all stored stations and re doing all the selections. Then I went through the menu you suggest , and some nrw tiles were there to select from.... however I noted the omissions and began an ownership search of the missing stations. GLOBAL was by far the main owner of blank tiles, along with a few more obscure tiles from Bauer media. This was a week or two back having tried to install the latest posted update. As I said these updates seem to serve only a narrow window of header units .... thus possibly some not being served. No reply as yet from Phonostar.de ....will re post when new info received.

Out of interest technician , in your mib3 info file for version number of software , what numerical update version does it show for the 11.24 update ?

I have today again downloaded the latest update 1.31.56 and transferred it to my USB C pen drive ( as used for all other uses successfully) ... and followed the procedure to update. I receive the message that the update to 1.31.56 is there and ready, would I like to continue ! Of course I agree , and almost the second I agree the screen says it is done and 1.31.56 is installed. Yet when I switch all off and the restart, looking at the system configuration I am shown 1.31.48 . This did not update, it could not even read the file in 1/4 of a second , let alone install it.

Am I the sole sufferer of this syndrome , or are there other long suffering owners with tile blanks ?

You're not alone.
Exact same for me when attempting to upgrade from 1.31.48 to 1.31.56

I went from 1.31.44 to 1.31.56 and it did it in approx 30seconds, this might be the difference that is causing the problem? you know what computers are like
From my years of playing with software , I would suggest that the update which was delivered having entered my many times checked product identity code, has a built in verify in its front end. When I install the USB C pen drive it reads the files and offers an update to .56 ... I agree and it then does a check of the unit ID and returns completed the install, because the update is not suitable to go from .48 to .56 on my unit !

This then begs the question, wtf are they allowing and directing the download to an update that both I and other users find will not work ? Better still when this is reported back to them why does it take days to get a reply ? Sadly this entire software update process is flawed and needs looking at by VW .

Now managed to get mine updated to 1.31.56 :)

Initially for me it would not update from .48 to .56 (HW H22, 3G5035820D, SW 0278). As soon as I inserted the stick with .56 on it prompted me to update and then within a second gave me the update complete message, however the system still reported .48.

What worked for me was to go from .48 to .50 (update successful) and then from .50 to .56.

System now successfully reports 1.31.56 and I now have logos for previously missing stations (e.g. Radio X, Radio X Classic Rock).

For anyone else who wants to give this a go, then these are the links:

https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_NonGP_JND_Europe_v1.31.56.zip

Interestingly the update file sizes differ significantly, 1.31.50 is 1.13 GB
1.31.56 is only 166MB

The excellent Skoda forum provided the link for .50

I am amazed that when I log in and add my part number it stated that .56 is the route.... what kind of crap software is offered that does not adapt, and if so poorly done then why not have the sense to say here is .50 and then .56 !

Lenny you are a STAR ! I just did the.48 to .50 to .56 route and it worked . No thanks to the German genius crew that still have not answered my mail . There are a few GRT HITS , Hits Radio, and Absolute Radio that are still missing but the majority are now there. Perhaps they need to pay the salaries of the boffins to the Forums as they are far more help.

Doesn't work for me. I did the v1.31.50 update last November but it won't update to v1.31.56.

Regards John

I thought it was about time I tried this. My original version was: 1.31.44 and I had already downloaded 1.31.48b (maybe a year ago) but never gave it a try. Thus I installed in three steps. Now I have all the logo's for the stations I regularly use.

https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.48b.zip
https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.50.zip
https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_NonGP_JND_Europe_v1.31.56.zip

note: v1.31.48b installs as 1.31.48

I also have a zip file for 1.31.44 (MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.44.zip), which may allow units with a version prior to v1.31.44 to do a four step update.
It looks to me that later updates do not include updates that have gone before (incremental).

note: v1.31.44.zip is no longer available on the phonostar website, I've tried.

What a complete mess. Last November I updated my system from v1.31.43 to v1.31.50 by downloading the file from the Phonostar website. I did not notice any new logo's. Last month a new update appeared (v1.31.56) and I downloaded it but even though it says update complete it hasn't changed from v1.31.50. I have reported it to Phonostar twice but haven't had a reply. You would of thought something so basic would be simple. Why can it not be made to update OTA?

My mail to Phonostar.de of eight days ago remains unanswered, my follow up ,mail where presuming they felt the error was mine, offered exact model- update status- and all details of the system config- to aid in debugging of this mess, remains unanswered.
Strangely now that the responsibility for our lack of logos sems to weigh only upon phonostar , without permissions or other sidetracks, they have gone to ground. Amazing part is my "almost" solution ( still a few missing ) came from within the forums. It would seem, as stated by John above, that the errors quite possibly are based on the inability of the updates to encompass previous releases, and require incremental almost singular steps. I notice that if an update pair of files are left in the USB C pen drive attached to the car's USB C, the system will report an update every time the system is turned on regardless of if it has already been updated....... great writing guys with no check used.

When I ponder the slow response to mails, I remind myself of my comment to VW on these very forums suggesting that telling us to contact Phonostar direct and not through them was ill advised . I warned that the hoards of dissatisfied users would swamp their mailbox with individual complaint and report, and I suggested a VW singular representation and ownership of their customers issues.

As I drive down the roads with my supersmart auto emergency breaking German Automobile, a cold shiver passes through my soul at the thought that similar folk wrote that code !

Just FYI my mails to phonostar.de of mid March, updating them on the situation with their .56 update and it not working to update from .48 or earlier releases , remains unanswered. I checked their webpage and the 11.24 update has not been updated either. Another note is that their amazingly poor software has yet another wrinkle. I recently drove down to Birling Gap from mid Kent listening to Hart radio, and hoping that the good old RDS system would handshake across Kent and various Sussex E & W .... the music did not break but alas cant say the same for the logos. On the return home I had to point it to the Hart Kent logo again as it seems to suffer from location amnesia.

Still no reply from Phonostar. Volkswagen say I have to deal with Phonostar but they don't answer. The annoying fact is it appears that the v1.31.56 update has the missing logos I want but it will not install on my car. How did we ever get to this? Complete b***s up.

Regards John
