Using Keyless Entry/Locking

Not looking to rekindle the debate for or against Keyless entry/locking (I personally like it) but there's one feature I can't get used to and I'm hoping other ' Rocers' might know if there's a solution ...... :? :?
On my Renault, when I switch off, get out and just walk away from the car, it centrally locks without me doing anything extra. On my 'Roc however I have to touch the notch at the back end of the door handle for it to lock :( :(
Because I've had the Renault for over 4 years now I am continually walking away and leaving the Roc unlocked   - only discovered on my return. Is there a setting in the settings that I can change for it to lock once the key has left the proximity zone :?: :?:

Hi Swsgm30
I don't think the keyless locking can be set/adjusted for a proximity setting when leaving the vehicle, I would prefer this too and maybe a different style of key with keyless entry, but it probably comes down to cost. On my Golf I tend to look back at the car to check the door mirrors have folded in just to double check I've locked it.
It would be great if you could link a setting to a mobile phone to indicate if your car was unlocked, but VW do have other software probs to sort at the moment.

Do you have car-net setup as that tells you if car is locked and if you've forgotten you can even lock it remotely!
When setting up car-net I did have to go through a setup procedure with VW by phone (
you can do this at yr local dealer!)
I have tested locking remotely and it did work,
Hope this helps!

Hi Ian91,
Thanks for the prompt reply .... yes, I am aware of Car-Net and have it on my phone, but our problem is that we are constantly being caught out due to the fact that we are too 'brainwashed' having had our Renault for so long.
We have now started locking the car with the key on exit (the old ways are the best), a sort of half-way-house, but we'll still have to be extra careful for a while ... at least we won't have to fumble for the key when we return to the car.
At least we will be able to remotely check the status with car-net (and lock if required)
  ;) ;)

Zastrola the answer is yes for the first three years. You need a data plug from the dealer who can set it up to your mobile but you must do within 90 days of purchase. Plenty of tips if you search for Carnet on the forum.
