They are in cloth bags as supplied with the wheel , and I have them laying in the recess of the wheel along with my warning triangle and first aid kit. I have got some very long black cable ties and securing to the holes in the wheel is possible....but how will I feel when I break down and don't have a knife ?
You might have a problem with the Old Bill if you have a knife (machete ?) in the boot, so I would suggest a pair of nail clippers :ROFLMAO::LOL:

When I last posted I was looking for a floor/seat for the spare wheel. As I had to remove the boot foam that housed the gunk and pump , I had in effect removed the sound deadening properties of a large lump of foam in that cavity. As its a lovely new car I did not want a tacky solution that spoiled the car. Today I saw these at Halfords on offer at £8 for a pack of 6. One covered the floor of the well and another cut for wings, jigsaw puzzled into the edges to fill the area. So My total cost so far for a 19" steel spare with scissor jack and tools ( all in bags provided £180) plus the wheel mounting screw to fit the longer length ( £1.70 delivered) plus boot recess flooring £8 ( of which I used £2.60 ) lets call it a shade under £190 all in . I will do a little trim to finish when its cooler , this stuff cuts with big scissors. This entire change is not glued or altered in any way not immediately reverted if I decide to sell the car and spare separately . Worthy of note is the call to VW giving my local dealer and my E Mail address enquiring about a VW spare wheel and kit , has still not returned any answer or reply and was made when I began this thread 2 weeks ago !

My new spare wheel arrived today, next day delivery included in the price of £180 for the wheel and tools , to include jack and all wrenches required. I measured it and it is the same diameter across the tyre as the 19" original. From here View attachment 6759
the disappointment started. As you can see the 19" is far too big to fit the foam insert that VW place in the boot. I guess thats why they compromise and use an 18" wheel in the spare they offer.... but it is smaller than my wheels for 50mph driving ! View attachment 6760
I have had to remove the foam and place the wheel in the recess with the tools in the middle. The "hold down" screw that secures the centre of the foam is not long enough to reach through the spare fitted either way up, so securing is not possible. I think I might add an old piece of blanket or something under the spare to line the recess and avoid friction issues, and cushion any movement. The cover fits down fine but of course the shaped recess for the wind deflector is gone. I bought this because of an impending road trip round the highlands, and in the knowledge that trying to get AA service on Mull or Skye might be a lengthy wait. Bought from The Wheel Shop on Ebay .
PS.... I did go onto VW website and click to request pricing and availability of a VW spare for my car . The woman I conversed with in net chat took all my details and said the local VW dealer in Maidstone would get parts to secure the info and E Mail it to me . It is over a week later and nothing has arrived. Bit like trying to buy a boot liner which VW list but none exist in the UK.... or when I wanted a wind deflector for my new T Roc R Line Convertible , and none existed in the UK ending with me ordering from a guy in Germany over the net ! Can't say I am at all impressed with the British handling of this once premium foreign product.
I bought a used 'hold down' screw of fl'ebay that came from an Audi A6 for about £8-fits perfectly!!

Has anyone found a longer spare wheel fixing bolt that can hold a spare wheel and subwoofer in place? I have the 12.5cm one and its too short.
I thought the 127mm was for the subwoofer:
"127mm long (5Q0803899), spare wheel mounting for vehicles with subwoofers".
Cannot see any longer bolt/screw.

@Rocky53 so did I, I bought that part and it doesn't fit, its about 12mm short. (I'll stick it for sale in due course)
Maybe that's more to do with the 19" spare wheel I bought .. I've ordered a longer one from AliExpress hopefully that does the trick.

Most spare wheels use a 17" rim with a higher profile tyre. If the wheel/tyre you have doesn't fit fully into the well, then the screw would need to be longer.

Sounds like they sent you a standard size one.
110mm long (3G0803899E).
